I played this bass at a local music store, and i was very surprised on how bad this bass felt, the action was good but when you played it sounded like a bunch of clicking. the neck was ok. if you are looking for a good bass i would change to ibanez.
This is one of the best basses I've ever played. the neck through mahogany body has amazing sustain and tone. with the addition of the EMG soapbar pickups this thing can SCREAM. Plus the active electronics can help you define your self as a musician.
I picked this baby up and she wasn't heavy as all hell! Its neck is sick with the custom inlays. Theres no fret buzz and the action is set PERFECT. The strings are so close to the fretboard and theres no buzz! iTS AMAZING. I didn't plug her in so Idk how she sounds electric. But the playability is a 10+. So smooth sick looking and a long scale neck make this a true metal bass. And I dont even play metal!
Ok so I don't exactly own this bass but I went to a local music store and played the exact same thing on amps and it is amazing! It's got awesome pickups that are almost touching the strings, the bridge prevents the strings from being too loose, the dot inlays on the side of the neck make it remarkably easy to find frets and the extra jumbo frets make the tone of the notes outstanding. This is definitely a awesome bass for someone who wants a high quality instrument without blowing over $1000!!
I've played this over and over at the music shop and I will keep playing it there until I buy it for myself. The positives are that it is an amazing bass that has a neck-thru, mahogany, and EMG. Also, the tribal inlays bring attention to it. Negatives are that it is pretty expensive, but I can see where, mahongany is an expensive wood.About 8 months ago I purchased an ESP F-104. The AX-404 owns it in the dust. I recommend this one.
