This bass is okay but there is no question why its priced so cheaply. First of all, the Soap Bar pickups are worthless. They are not loud enough and there is absolutely no clarity in the A D and G strings. 2nd, The EQ doesn't allow for much tone adjustment. The mid-range is mediocre. If you are looking for a bass with just a low end growl and good for finger style then this bass is for you. If you're looking for a slap monster with punch and lots of clarity then this bass is not for you. Oh and another thing, The strings are way too close together. A swap out with a Leo Quan bridge might fix this problem. Good luck with that!
I have owned this bass for about a year and it hasn't let me down yet. Out of the box the setup is okay but does need work. With a 34 inch neck, the low b is a little floppy but not bad with a good setup. The only thing I don't like is the 2 band eq doesn't allow for much tone adjustment.
I bought this bass a few days ago from my local music shop and i havent put it down since !!! This the perfect bass if u want 2 get started on a bass or even if ur already a good bassist . The 2-band EQ woks perfectly and and the neck and the feel of the bass is awesome . The pickups are great to...there are active electronics on this bass . The finish is awesome..i got a see through black finish and it looks awesome just like it sounds !!!
Havent played bass for about 6 years and I wanted start back w/a 5-string. After much deliberation I choose this one(I previously owned a 4 string ESP), after playing it a local shop I was very impressed. No buzz, nice thick sound, and the neck was wide enough to give plenty of space between strings, but not so wide that you had stretch for the low B. also the thin U shape of the neck makes for fast movment. the EQ isn't much but works well. If your looking for a low price bass w/good range this is definatley it. Craftsmanship is top not notch, ESP is definatley on top of their game here.
I received this guitar as a gift w/o playing before purchase and it is everything i was looking for. Right out of the box all that is needed is a bit of tuning and setting your preference for the action of the strings. The low B string is straight beastly and the tone of the higher strings and notes is unmatched. Don't procrastinate if you're thinking about this guitar.. go for it.
Got this bass for Christmas. It needed a tiny bit of tuning when I pulled it out. But thats to be expected. I have only encountered one problem with it so far. The G string (no pun intended) buzzes a little bit so i just adjusted the action. I just used it for recording yesterday, it sounded perfect. Pretty versatile in my opinion. It could be used for pretty much any style of music not just metal. It looks pretty sweet. I have the "See-thru" Black. They should have just called it black. I cant really see thru it at all. As far as looks go it is a pretty simple looking bass, nothing to fancy. It is also fairly light which is a plus. Probably around 5-7 pounds. Overall i would say it is a good quality bass. Good for someone that is switching from a 4 string. Im pretty sure once you play this you wont think twice about buying it.
I just got this thing, and I must say, I'm not disappointed. Right out of the box, it was very close to being tuned, but the strings were all kind of low. But in a few minutes that was fixed. The equalizer really only makes it a little louder, but does slightly affect the tone. There is very little fret buzz. Doesn't do great in dropped tunings though, so I suggest buying bigger strings. Overall, there's nothing wrong with this bass that can't be fixed, which is why my rating is what it is.
