Got this bass as backup 5'er and I am really happy with it. New strings and a slight neck adjustment were all it took to get this bass very playable. It is also very light for a 5 string bass. I haven't measured the string spacing but it is definitely tight. It's not a big problem but my main bass has wider spacing so when I switch back to it after playing the B-55 I notice a difference. Overall this is a great bass for the money and I'd recommend it to any player.

I bought it because I got a great deal on it, but otherwise I never would have. I wanted to switch from guitar to bass, and playing a nice, smooth bass feels and sounds great. This bass is far from that, it's clunky, unattractive, pickups are awkward to rest your thumb on, slap sounds awful, the neck is thick and slow, the action is bad, and to top it off, the input jack pushes my cord back out a little bit(weird I know.) Now I'm playing my guitars again, and I haven't picked the bass up in a couple months. I really regret buying it. Sorry, ESP, I love your guitars, but not your basses. I might buy a nicer, smoother bass sometime in the near future...

Comments about ESP LTD B-55 5-String Bass Guitar:
I received this as a gift, and am very satisfied with it. It balances well, and has a fantastic neck. The active electronics provide LOTS of output and pretty flexible sounds via the controls. The only issue I have is the low b tends to slip a bit, and it's difficult for my tuner to detect it properly as well, so I often use the 5th fret E to tune the string. The rest of the strings are freaking rock solid.
Not too heavy, very comfortable to play although I haven't played it for hours at a time. It records well, although can be a bit hot.

its a nice guitar worth for its own price for beginners, its good for practice. the string is heavy & ill give 4 star coz the string is lil bit far from it fretz board
Comments about ESP LTD B-55 5-String Bass Guitar:
I give the bass a 7 out of 10 overall. The only reason it's not a ten is because it's a price-point guitar.
I ran a music store for ten years and this bass is, bar none, the best five string bass for the money I've ever encountered! The action was good to go and intonation right on (which is rare in any bass, but especially economy models). Although I've ordered some EMG's for the bass, the pickups that are on it sound suprisingly good. I just need the EMG's for their quietness as I'm using the bass for recording. The mix control between the P and J pickups really helps tune it that just right sound.
A+ all the way thus far given the price point.
This bass is a fantastic value. Can't say enough.
Comments about ESP LTD B-55 5-String Bass Guitar:
I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I can't say much about tone as it's my first bass, but I know to me it sounds good. I would personally recommend it to anyone starting out who wants to jump straight to a 5 string.I'm playing it in conjunction with an Ashtown perfect 8 practice amp.
The LTD B-55 5 string is extremely versitile. Can't really ask for much more on a bass at this point. I love the range of a 5 string 24 fret bass! Pickups aren't too bad for stock.
There are a few spots where finish seems rushed. For example, the paint work near the headstock gets a tiny bit sloppy. I realize I'm nit picking, but a flaw is a flaw even if it doesn't effect playability. It's nothing huge or even anything that would effect my purchase, just something to look out for.Main reason for docking points is because it's extremely neck heavy. I'm really new to playing bass, but I'm pretty sure it's not normal.
Comparing this to other basses with similar quality and price, it's a great value. It's hard to say if it's better than the others, but it's easily comparable.
Comments about ESP LTD B-55 5-String Bass Guitar:
This is probably the best bass you can buy for the money! Talk about value! It has great tone and good bottom end punch. The only two things I would say that aren't optimal is there is some string buzzand it doesn't have to good of a top end sound for funk or slappin' but hey, for $200 it's an amazing bass! It is great for a wide variety of styles and has a very fast action. I recommend this bass for any professional or beginner who is on a budget and is looking for a sturdy, high quality bass. Great job ESP!

I have been playing guitar for quite a few years and wanted to get into playing Bass. I was interested in a 5 string so I picked this beast up. I am more than impressed with it, it is very solid, sounds terrific, fairly light considering it's a Bass and this thing is bullet proof! I currently am gigging with this guitar and I have to say I am impressed. It holds a tune like high end Gibsons, easy to use looks and plays very nice. All in all, I would recommend this guitar to anyone looking to start playing Bass.
