A 5-string speed-demon.

The ESP LTD Surveyor-5 5-string bass features bolt-on construction for added attack and snap. The neck's U-contour allows quick and easy access to all of the instrument's 21 frets. This model now features white binding on the fingerboard and pearloid block inlays.

The maple fingerboard accentuates the top and bottom frequencies for a great-sounding tone, especially for any rock, or rhythm and blues setting. With its breathtaking swamp ash body, chrome hardware, beautiful finish, and sleek black pickups, this bass will keep you playing into the late hours with control and visual brilliance.

Comments about ESP LTD Surveyor-5 5-string Electric Bass Guitar:

The bad part Is it heavy? Oh yes. Am I predominantly a guitarist? Yep. However I have played Squiers, Ibanezes, Schecters, Spectors. This is a heavy bass. That is the only "bad" point of this instrument. This could be rectified if I ate my Wheaties, and if a high quality wide padded strap would no doubt help.

I have very small hands and this 5 string is easy to play. I would not change anything regarding playablity. I highly recommend going to a 5 string from a 4. It keeps your hands in position without having to slide up and down the neck. The string spacing is not too close on this guitar. It is just right.

First holding this bass out of the box, I felt as if it was a very high quality instrument. Cleartone strings were the strings installed. Intonation was only slightly off possibly because it was from Indonesia and it is fall weather here in the midwest. However it came out of the box absolutely playable.

The active EMG pickups alone are worth a lot of the price paid for the entire instrument. They only bring on the noise when you command them to. Other EMG's/pickups i have played had this annoying buzz before the note decayed away completely. Massive array of tones with these pickups. This is eccentuated with the clever flip of the switch-splitting the bridge pickup-thus cutting output instantly without having to pay back a dial.

I highly recommend this instrument. I can not comment on what guitar case will fit as my guitar case keeps getting the backorder date pushed back..and I am getting annoyed...
The Musicians Gear bass gig bag is barely big enough.
