Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V 5-String Electric Bass:
Money well spent, right out of the case this Fender Jazz five string was set up almost perfect. At first I felt the strings were a bit bright but a week later my ears started to hear why the Fender Jazz bass is one of the best guitars ever made. When the guitar strap on it feels like a glove so very comfortable. I have relatively short fingers and the fretboard plays with ease. The electronics give you total freedom bright highs to muddy punchy lows. Opinions may vary but in my opinion this Fender five string jazz bass is well worth the money and will be with me for a long long time.

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V 5-String Electric Bass:
This bass was a little bit over my price range(1200-1400) but after playing it at a local music store I decided to wait a few weeks and get the amount I still needed. It was definitely worth the wait and I actually ended up playing it the day after I got it at church for our 3 services and I also played the best solo of my life while jammin with our drummer between services. I got the Amber Finish which isn't available anymore but overall it is a very solid bass with impeccable workmanship. I would recommend someone on the fence about the price to wait, even if it is a month or two, and get this bass!

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V 5-String Electric Bass:
I've always been a p-bass guy, until I discovered this beauty. I'm telling ya, if you want an overall versatile bass that is well constructed with a great tone, this is the bass. I was iffy about purchasing this bass due to some people complaining that there is pickup noise... So when I actually recieved the bass and turned it on, I was pleasantly surprised to not hear anything, at all, not even a slight buzz. It's the quietest bass I own! I also have never owned a five string considering I enjoy wrapping my thumb around the neck to play full chords, which is hard to do on a five string. Well, this is probably the most comfortable five string neck I've ever touched, with a silky smooth finish, relatively thin nut and heel width, and asymetric shape. The pearloid inlays are beautiful as well as the binding! I love the tuners, the super dense bridge, and most of all, the electronics. When I first started playing, I was convinced active basses were superior. Once I began to mess with effect pedals, I realized that passive basses work better for adding distortion, octave effects, filters, etc. This bass has both active and passive capabilities. The passive circuit delivers the best tone fender has to offer. When switched to active, you can really dig into the strings and get some heavy growl, or slap away for a dreamy slap tone. The n3 pickups are now at the top of the line as far as I'm concerned. The preamp is great too, every sound is useful without straying too far from the natural jazz bass tone. Oh yeah, how could I forget about the best part, THE LOW B STRING IS THE CLEANEST, FATTEST, PUNCHIEST FIFTH STRING I HAVE EVER HEARD!!! Please do yourself a favor and buy this bass, you will not regret it! It has changed my opinion on jazz basses and five strings!

Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V 5-String Electric Bass:
I have owned this instrument for about 3 weeks and I have to say, this axe has ended my search. I love this bass. I bought an ADJBV in the year 2000 and it is a nice instrument but I missed the vintage sound/look. The new one (2012) is simply fantastic. Perfect fit and finish. Even tho' the body is 3-pc, they did such a great job matching the grain of the wood, that you can hardly tell it's not 1-pc. It plays like a dream and sounds exactly right. The B-string is so clear, that even when it's fingered, it sounds as tho' it's open. The pre-amp is voiced just right. Very vintage sounding but also powerfully punchy. There is so much tonal range that it sounds great even if it's set flat. The only thing negative I could say is that the natural finish model (that's what I have) will look a bit like the Squire Vintage Modified Jazz Bass V to the untrained eye. Now, we wouldn't want anyone to think we had the inferior model, would we? Maybe a "spiffier" pick plate would set it apart. All in all, this bass is "the goods". Although I do not have much experience with J-Bass clones made by other companies (Ken Smith, Sadowsky, Mike Lull etc.), I could not imagine spending more money for them when you can have the real deal show less
Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V 5-String Electric Bass:
I've always been the type that has an eye out for another bass, something different. This is the one that has pretty well put an end to that. The only downer is that I just don't play my other basses much at all since getting this one (out of respect, I don't want to mention the others, but they are all very fine American-made instruments).
Outstanding tonal range. Have been playing through a Tech 21 VT for quite awhile. After plugging this bass in, it took me about 30 minutes to drop the Tech 21 from the loop.
I reluctantly bought the Transparent Wine only to keep away from the standard finishes you see on most Fenders. The pictures on the MF website do not do this bass justice. The finish is absolutely stunning with the black pickguard, rosewood finger board and block inlays. I get lots of compliments every time I roll this bass out. The neck is very comfortable. This is the first 5-string I've played over an extended period, and it felt completely natural after just a few minutes of playing. The set up out of the box was just right, no tweaks needed from me and it's stayed that way ever since.
A little pricey perhaps. I play with a working musician friend who owns several boutique basses and he tells me that this bass (he has one as well) is as good as any he has played or owned.
Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V 5-String Electric Bass:
If it had 24 frets, a slimmer neck and tuned itself, it would be perfect!
This is the best assembly line Fender bass I have played. The single coil noise issues have been addressed with the new pickups. Out of the box setup and condition were superb on my bass. The active tone control is awesome and works great as a solo boost. There are tons of tonal options without leaving out the famous Jazz growl and clean highs. No dead spots on the five bolt neck, though it is a bit wide toward the bridge. Too bad there aren't 24 frets as you'll want to play every note available. My bass's ash body is beautiful and with the maple neck has that Fender Funk vibe and sound. Recording or playing live, you'll love this bass.
This is the pinnacle of Fender's production line American Jazz Bass.
You can spend more and get less.
Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V 5-String Electric Bass:
Neck: 4.5 of 5Setup: 4.5 of 5 out of the box.Tone: 4.5 of 5 (traditional Fender tone with versatility via the active electronics.Hardware: 5 of 5 (solid instrament)Electronics: 2.5 of 5: This is the downfall. The first bass I received had a ground issue (I assume the ground wire was not connected to the bridge). I could eliminate a ground buzz by touching the input jack. Rather than repair myself, I exchanged it for a 2nd bass (same as above). With the 2nd bass "I" was the ground - quite when touching the strings, but the same ground buzz as before when I took my hands off. I tried the bass through my Eden set-up, an old Peavey bass head and my Allen & Heath mixing console (all three on different circuits) and still had the buzz. My Brian Moore, Warwick and Ibanez basses were all quite as could be. The neck on the 2nd bass was 3.5 of 5 (slight "S" and imperfection on fretwork near 10-12 frets). Very disappointed as I really looked forward to this Fender bass. Kudos to MF customer service - they were VERY helpful and understanding. Zero for Two.

If this guitar is one of many you are considering, put the others at rest. This is the best quality, best value guitar for the money. Superior American quality and great tone. You will not regret this purchase.
Comments about Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass V 5-String Electric Bass:
After waiting for what seemed like forever the box finally arrived. I got chills as I opened the box took out the case. I unlocked the case and was amazed at the true beauty of this thing. (NATURAL MAPLE) I didnt pick it up right away cuz I wanted to just stare at it. You cant help but notice how exceptionally built this bass is. It came with a strap, straplocks, a guitar chord, and all the tools for customizing the "action" the way you want it. I finally took it out and plugged her in and was blown away by the crisp sound. I havent played and tinkered with all the knobs but outta the box this baby sounds amazing. I knew that I had an Instant Classic in my hands that is going to last me a lifetime. If you can afford one and find one then buy one. You will not be blown away.
