Comments about Fender American Standard Jaguar Bass:

I love the P pickup tone. The Jazz is good too but very noisy with a lot of buzz. I may take it apart and check the ground wire and shield the bridge pickup to decrease this buzz. I saw a couple of YouTube videos on this. Nice EQ and pickup configurations to get good rock tones. Takes some time to get used to the controls.

Comments about Fender American Standard Jaguar Bass:

I needed a good, lightweight bass for summer party gigs. I had heard that Fender's ceramic-magnet Jazz bass pickups with hex poles were great, and this bass in mystic red was discounted so I ordered it. It is extremely lightweight and has a Fender Jazz bass neck which is narrow at the nut. It's easy to play with small hands and has a great feel. The onboard preamp boosts the volume and there is a wide array of tonal options with the various switches on this bass. The tone is great for the most part, though I do agree that it lacks some of the punch that is needed to play slap-and-pop style. The biggest weakness of this bass is that the Jazz pickup at the bridge position is not hum-canceling, so it gets a bit noisy. With the preamp on and the treble up, I can't use that pickup because the hum is simply too loud. No amount of shielding will solve this problem. So if you want a Jazz bass sound without the hum, you will need a Fender American Jazz bass with two Jazz pickups that will cancel each other's hum out. I don't feel confident about using the Jaguar bass with the Jazz pickup on the studio due to the hum, but for gigging it is great. I find it easier to play than any other bass out there, and when using the precision pickup exclusively, I get a nice tone and very little hum. In short, if you like the Fender Precision bass but want the Jazz bass neck and extra tonal options, I would definitely choose this over any Fender Precision bass. But if you play slap-and-pop style or prefer the Fender Jazz bass sound, just go with a Fender Jazz bass because it will have the tone you want and will be a lot quieter than the Jaguar.

Comments about Fender American Standard Jaguar Bass:

This thing is absolutely fantastic. It FEELS like an American Fender when you hold it, and that's hard to describe. They just ooze quality, craftsmanship, and playability. The finish is flawless, the hardware is top notch, and the electronics are great. I love the PJ pup arrangement; they sound great separate and give you really cool and unique sound blended. I had a Mexican P-bass special with a PJ configuration once, and this axe blows that old thing away. You really can't beat American quality with Fender, and the price is great when compared to other American-made instruments like Gibson. The active electronics completely change the character of the bass and make it way more powerful and aggressive. I'm not the biggest fan of the added treble that gets added in, but you can roll that off. I'm a knob turner, and this thing has controls for days to dial in your perfect sound. Oh yeah, the string-through option is great too. I love the extra sustain and tension.

I'm totally set on 4-strings with this bass. Maybe once my money grows on trees, I'll get an American Standard Jazz, because every bassist for life should. Can't go wrong with the Jag though, it's a fantastic instrument. I love mine.

Comments about Fender American Standard Jaguar Bass:

This bass is simply amazing for the price. Best of both worlds and the option of going active or passive is huge. I really like the fact that this bass uses a J-style neck.

I have always used p-basses and this was a great way to expand my tone options while keeping the tried and true p-pickup I know and love.

This is probably the best Bass Guitar
ever crafted. Wide tonal expression, cosmetically beautiful, easy to play, and that fender growl any time you want it. Its super fat or super skinny or anywhere in between, sounds great with or with out effects. What a great Bass Guitar.Thank you FENDER!!! ROCK N ROLL forever!

Fender, with the new American Jaguar Bass, has made as good a bass as the best pre-CBS Precision, Jazz, and Mustang basses. Easily the most versitle and amazing sound, great design, and solid craftsmanship in any currently manufactured and/ or newly issued bass on the market.
