OVERVIEW

A modernized classic with all the right moves from Fender.

Fender introduced the American Standard Precision Bass V guitar in 1951, and its thick sound and indestructible build changed popular music. The American Standard Precision Bass V has a high-mass vintage bridge, Fender Custom Shop '60s Precision Bass split single-coil pickup, thinner finish undercoat that lets the body breathe and improves resonance, improved Fender tuners that are 30 percent lighter while keeping the classic look, richer and deeper neck tint for a more elegant appearance, great-looking gloss rosewood fingerboard, satin neck back for smooth playability and Fender Tolex case.

Comments about Fender American Standard Precision Bass V:

Right out of the case, great. Expected nothing less from Fender. Put case away after removing bass. Didn't look at case for a week. Upon loading up for first gig, with new bass, I saw a 2 inch crack in case. Called musicanfriend this morning but not open yet . Waiting for respond, expect new case. I waited 2 months for bass on back order, and it was shipped directly from Fender.

Great all-purpose bass. Especially great with flat-wound strings for Blues. Has that classic "precision" sound.

Comments about Fender American Standard Precision Bass V:

A precision is the iconic bass in looks and feel with the jazz a close second. The five string precision has the same character and tone of the four with added modern playability of a five. I've had Stingray, Sterling, Warwick, Smith all of which are great in their own right but the Fender maintains that heritage sound which is nearly impossible, or at best an approximation, with an active bass. Even without the active electronics the low B has strength and clarity. I'm a four stringer at heart but have occasion in pop/jazz/rock for a five string - this is certainly what I would recommend to any serious player.
