It is the first bass I have owned, the second one I have played extensively, so I don't really have anything to compare it to well, but I love it. The other bass was a Gibson Les Paul, which I didn't care for that much. I played a variety of other basses while shopping for this one, the MM plays great, has a ton of great features, is classy looking as hell (I took the pickup cover off, didn't really like the feel), and above all sounds awesome. The vintage pickups sound exactly how I like it: flavorful yet powerful.

This is the main reason I bought the bass. It has a switchable preamp, which is adequate, the tone shaping can get you a variety of tones, not as much as the deluxe j-basses, but it has a good range. The Badass II bridge is great, and better than the standard fender bridges (although I read that the 2011's have been improved drastically).

Made in Japan, very well-so if I might say. The construction is solid, I don't know what else to say. I'ts good quality.

You get what you pay for. While you can almost buy an American Jazz Bass for the price, you get way more features with this, with little compromise on the worksmanship

great bass for 600

I bought this bass for 600 bucks, used, and it was a steal at that price. It sounds great even through inferior amps, but shines direct to track on recording i do not have the noise issues others are complaining of, I have no problem with the weight. I think it is a great bass to get many kinds of sounds from that old school jazz bass that was every music of the electronic past, to the slappy high end defined funk that is electric bass today. Buying it new i guess you are paying for the fender and marcus miller names, but knowing what i know, i would have paid up to 1100 for a new or slightly used one

I am a hobbyist and student that has been playing for 3 years. I've have this bass for a year and a half now and it sounds better than when I originally got it because I know all the little tricks and such about it, and the tone can get anywhere from Chili Pepper funk to classic jazz to Jaco Pastorius to deep slapping tones, as expected. This is my first real bass and I tried many other before I bought this one and I have been very pleased with it. I can say I will never sell this bass. Everything about this has surpassed my expectations and I know I will still find amazing things about this bass. Highly recommended

I play this bass in my school jazz band and it is definately not worth the money at all. I wouldn't buy it unless it was for an incredibly low price. It has a real twangy sound no matter what. It makes this strsnge buzzing sound whenever plugged in too. And it's not the amp trust me I've plugged in other basses into the amplifier and it has worked perfectly. I wouldn't recomend this to anyone.
