OVERVIEW

Dual humbucking power updates this Fender tradition at an amazing price.

Throughout its history, Fender has always made a special point of welcoming new players to the family by offering entry-level instruments of remarkable style and substance (such as the Duo-Sonic, Mustang and Musicmaster models), with great sound, classic looks, solid performance and eminent affordability. The Modern Player Series continues that great my-first-Fender tradition, with thoroughly modern features and several distinctively unconventional new takes on our most revered instruments-all with outstandingly attainable value.

The Modern Player Jazz Bass is a volcanic new take on the time-honored Jazz Bass thanks to its dual Modern Player humbucking Jazz Bass pickups. Other features include an alder body, C-shaped maple neck, rosewood fretboard with 9.5" radius and 20 jumbo frets, three-ply pickguard, vintage-style four-saddle bridge with brass saddles, open-gear tuners and nickel/chrome hardware.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass:

I'm very happy with it and I've got high end Fenders, I still play this one fairly often. Build quality is flawless, no kidding, and I'm a fan of the satin finish. The only beef I have is that I find that only one or two pickup selector positions are usable, the others are too thin. You won't hear that famous Jazz bass growl the best but at this price even a hint of it should suffice. Rosewood neck is classic jazz, very thin and very comfortable, prob as much as my USA. For my money it's definitely a keeper.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass:

I been Plying bass for about four years. I'm an intermediate player. I have owned a Squire Deluxe Jazz Bass , an Epiphone Thunderbird. a 5 string esp ltd. And I finally was able to Pickup this FENDER! Even though It's made In china this is a professional sounding bass. Nothing is more satisfying than owning a "Fender" Once you get this bass you know it will last you DECADES! I am 6 feet 260 pounds and have been a powerlifter in my teen years, and I find This bass heavy as hell after an hour or two of jamming even with a good strap. That is my only complain. My only other complain is that you will spend hours trying to figure the perfect Tone/adjustment knob setting, Im sure I have spent HOURS fiddling with all four knobs, It's a bit annoying if you are used to a simple P-BASS. Slap a pair of ROTOSOUND SWINGBASS 66 and you will be good to go and sound crunchy and low! This bass is built like a tank!

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass:

I sent it back. The pickups, while very musical, were seriously lacking in note fundamentals. The 4th setting on the control switch is also pretty useless. If you look at the design of the pole pieces, the non-satin Modern Player J bass would be a much better choice.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass:

I caught this bass guitar on an awesome sale, and I am surprised by how much I like it. The neck is without a doubt the best part of it. It is super smooth, fast, and playable. Be aware the neck has gloss finished like the classic vibe series basses. Fret edges and leveling are near perfect. The pickups although passive are really hot and give a wide range of tones. The selector switch has not impressed me as much but I will continue to play with it. The bass is made in china ,but the craftsmanship is better than the Mexican Fenders I have played. The white finish is a cool satin or matte, but not a gloss like I was expecting. This makes the bass even more unique. I really dig the Music Man style truss rod adjuster that you don't have to move any strings to get to. It took me all of ten min to set it up and I was playing with a big smile on my face.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass:

I've owned this bass for 5 years. Been gigged two or three times a week, playing country/americana, rock, pop, metal. Solid and reliable, wide range of tones, never fails me. Neck is fast and smooth. I've dropped it, it's fallen over and I've tripped over it when I've had a few beers - it's practically indestructible

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jazz Bass:

The bass arrived in poor shape. There was no information in the packaging. The neck was a mess and the guitar needed a complete tune up. The pickups were generating a hum that made the bass unacceptable for recording - coming from the neck pickup. It was hard to judge this bass at all as there was fret buzz on virtually every not on all four strings. There was also a blemish on the upper horn. MF did an excellent job, as always, in dealing with sending it back and making an exchange.
