Comments about Fender Vintage Hot Rod 60's Precision Bass:

This vintage hot rod 60's p-bass is awesome! Right out of its fabulous vintage orange lined case, she was ready to play and sounded great! I've been playing for 23 years and have played quite a few different bass guitars. My most recent was a much cheaper and lower quality bass, so this fender is the solid sound I've been missing. It's punchy like Kim Deal's sound from the Pixies, yet it has a nasty fuzz tone at times when you crank it. It has a great tone for all genres though, with a lot of variety in the two volume knobs and tone knob. I like that it has both the jazz and the p-bass pickups but with a nice p-bass neck. Fatter and easier to play I think. I played a Fender jazz bass years ago, it was fun, but the neck is much thinner, more like a guitar. The intonation, string height and pickup height was just to my liking, no adjustments needed. It is a bit on the heavy side, (I'll have to go the gym haha), since my last bass was a semi-hollow body the weight of this one will take some getting used to again. The leather strap is nice, and long enough, it has a few different adjustments, like a belt. I like to play my bass low enough to have a straight wrist while playing. Still might go back to my extra long ernie ball strap though. The cord, pickup cover and tugbar were nice additions as well. The holes are already drilled on the pickup guard, but since I'd have to screw holes into the actual bass, I think I'll leave those off for now. Cool though, since that tugbar and pickup cover could potentially make this bass really look vintage. I just wish it came in a sunburst finish!

I did have some pick up issues at first. The first bass I was sent started distorting, and cutting out and the knobs made a crackle sound when turned. I called musicians friend and they instantly sent me a swap replacement bass with no hassles. The customer service here is AWESOME!!!! Thanks so much musician's friend! I'm in love with my new vintage hot rod 60's fender p-bass!

Comments about Fender Vintage Hot Rod 60's Precision Bass:

Set up from factory was perfect.Lacquer finish is awesome, intonation dead on, and has insane sustain. The Precision design with both pickups is comfortable and gives amazing range of tone.

Comments about Fender Vintage Hot Rod 60's Precision Bass:

Overall a very nice Fender P bass. The action is very clean, no buzz, set medium low to medium. I don't recommend super low action on any P bass as it will negitively effect the tone and likely cause fret buzz. I don't find this P/J pickup set particulary useful. The J pickup on it's own doesn't have the burpiness of a Jazz bass. The two blended together detracts from the characteristic P bass tone without adding anything I find pleasing. However, the P pickup on it's own is very warm and organic. I will probably never use the J pickup on this particular model.
The bass is well made, excellent fret work, but there are some minor flaws on the neck finish. Nothing you would ever notice in terms of playability but asthetically not something I would expect on a top of the line American made Fender bass. A very nice vintage type Precision with some modern touches. But if you want a traditional sounding P bass this might not be for you.
I rate this bass an 8 out of ten.

Comments about Fender Vintage Hot Rod 60's Precision Bass:

The dual pickup configuration allows you to alter your sound pretty drastically by cutting on/off each of the pickups. The tone pot really lets you craft your sound.
The neck is smooth and easy to play. There is a slight buzz out of the A string, but I think a set up will put it all right.
The only issue I had was that the case was sub-par. It's a "vintage" looking blonde case with orange interior, but there was a small tear in it when I opened the box, and the middle latch doesn't really line up or have any real function.
Other than that, great Bass for the money.

Comments about Fender Vintage Hot Rod 60's Precision Bass:

Have been playing bass about 50 years and my go to is an American Standard Jazz. Saw this AVHR in Natural here for 1199.00 and it was a no brainer. Received it yesterday and the first thing you notice is the case. WOW it is a beauty. Opened to a vintage Orange liner and this beautiful Natural Ash P bass.

Plugged it in to a TC Electronic RH450 and Line6 410 cab. This thing has all kinds of tones. The neck is just perfect and the build is second to none.

I'll keep this short, if you can find one buy one. You won't be sorry.
