The Flea Bass Junior is a 3/4-style bass designed to Flea's own specifications that is professionally set up and tested by technicians to deliver excellent sustain and rich tone. Its solid alder body's dual cutaways make for easy access to the higher frets, and its chrome bridge/tailpiece is fully adjustable. The Junior bass guitar has a solid maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and a smooth satin finish for superb playability. Over the years I have come to appreciate short scale bass's..I think many bass players have been led to believe that short scale bass's are really for beginners or perhaps they think they lack something the long scale bass's have......Short or long scale in my opinion they all have a unique voice and this bass is no exception..Im very impressed with the tone and comfort of the Jr....Nice Tone, Nice thin neck ..built for comfort..Im not afraid to take this little whipper snapper to the gig...I would think the flea bass would be a nice addition to your gun rack,,Go for it! By the way it sounds good in the recording studio..For those who have reservations about short scale bass's in relation to studio bass tones.. I think with a few tweaks in the studio you could fool the best into thinking it was a long scale bass..I recorded a motown cover with our band using the flea and it sounded old school to me...The nice thing about musicians friend is if your not happy you can send it back...
A one trick pony tone wise doesn't mean its a bad choice..I like the simplicity of this design..
So far so good..Im impressed with this little war horse..I have the black with white pick guard..WILD ONE!..I read where some players got the bass and were disappointed for various reasons..Maybe I just got lucky..Mine was ready to go except for tweaking the neck..Im happy!
If the bass makes you smile then its worth the price..It makes me grin so I have no regrets..

Just checked these out yesterday at the local store. Was shocked to see that the fretwires were not flush with the fretboard, some had a 1/16 inch gap. Top that off with rough fretwire ends that hadn't been properly dressed, (they were bad enough to cut fingers). Very disappointing.

for kids/family market. As such, it was LOVE at first sight with theflea bass. I kept calling to see when it would become available and really hoped it would feel and sound as GREAT as it looks. Money has been tight, and the extra if there is any goes to recording but I did see the FLEA BASS JUNIOR in the color I wanted first ORANGE I write, record and perform retro-bubblegum, new originals SUNNY. up for auction...I got an amazingly low price on the bass considering that now, it is my favorite bass I've ever had. I tell you the truth, I have owned and played just about every 30" scale bass know to humans.The FLEA BASS JUNIOR (I am 5'6" 117lbs) is everything I hoped it would be and more. I sometimes just stare at her.:)...the tone is amazing and versatile. the neck is slim and at the lowest frets reminiscent of the Vox bass...but not too slim...it is Perfect for me and I think anyone who prefers the 30" scale as a rule will be thrilled with the qualtiy, value and fun built into the FLEA BASS JUNIOR. The Sustain is off the charts as the bridge is the most substsantial I have seen..everything, the shapes, the weight, the TONE, the feel and look...I can feel the love and care that went into creating this instrument. I aspire to have one in each color and hope they make more in the coming years....Strength and Joy,Corey Leland of THE INSECTS ROCK!
