Comments about Gibson 2015 Thunderbird Electric Bass Guitar:

Gibson's quality craftsmanship has been suffering for years, and this is no exception. The three of these I've played at my local guitar stores have all had finish imperfections (particularly where the fretboard meets the body). The sound out of these pickups is really disappointing despite the comfortable neck feel and improved (though unnecessary) bridge upgrade. Despite the switching options, the tone is relatively flat and, while hot, lacks definition and clarity. There's presumably more versatility here, but that's not what a Tbird player is looking for...

More to the point, however, is that Gibson is totally out of touch with their customer base. The appeal of the Thunderbird bass is the original pickups, the fast neck, and the solid construction. Rather than add pole pickups with switching, bring back the original Alnico blades that EVERYONE has been requesting for decades. Reissue the '66 T-birds (both the II and IV models) and regain some credibility.
