Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5440LS Electromatic Long Scale Hollowbody Bass:

I've always wanted a hollowbody bass, and I jumped right on this one because it's a Gretsch. Neddless to say it didn't disappoint, just a joy to play. Invest in a solid amp, and cables to match the greatness of this bass, and to reach maximum potential!

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5440LS Electromatic Long Scale Hollowbody Bass:

This is the best investment I ever made. Put flatwounds on it or you are wasting money.

      Great tone. Great sound.

If you love Bill Wyman and the Rolling Stones or just want a different sound pick this bad boy up today.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5440LS Electromatic Long Scale Hollowbody Bass:

This has the makings of a classic instrument - professional build quality, rugged (for a hollowbody), easy to set up and yet has enough idiosyncrasies and character to stand apart from the norm. Not necessarily the bass for everyone, but it has a tone that is remarkably versatile: jazz and blues to hard rock. The neck-dive isn't difficult to counter, but the one real downer is the electronics: due to a design flaw, the tone control is unusable unless all volumes are on maximum: at lower volumes it causes a huge volume drop. This is quite easily fixed by a tech, and shouldn't be a reason not to try it or buy it - a great bass.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5440LS Electromatic Long Scale Hollowbody Bass:

Great for that early to mid 60's garage sound like early Who, The Leaves, The Seeds type stuff. Add a little fuzz and that snotty mid range really stands out with a very controllable and musical feedback due to being a hollow body; great with a spooky delay. Would not reccomend this bass for someone just starting out gigging, instrument can really sing for someone who understands how to set their eq and level to a room however.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5440LS Electromatic Long Scale Hollowbody Bass:

The G5440LS is a Korean made instrument that was very impressive right out of the box. The craftsmanship is first rate and I found no flaws with mine except for a very slight truss rod adjustment. The tone is massive with a wide range to suit just about any musical style. The look and feel is classic and very comfortable even if you have never picked up a hollowbody before. Overall I am extremely impressed with Gretsch and it's Electromatic series.
