OVERVIEW

An uptown alternative violin-style bass.

Although it shares the violin body shape and body woods, and pickups, the Deluxe is a distinct departure from the Vintage models with a one-piece European maple neck, ebony fretboard, gold-plated hardware, and diamond-shaped mother-of-pearl headstock inlays. A dark, full-body binding that contrasts with the lighter woods of the body is another of the details that sets the Deluxe apart. Responsive and light in weight, it is truly a pleasure to play.

Comments about Hofner 5000/1 Deluxe 4-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I recently began playing again after some fifteen years off and bought a jay turser jtb-2b/n short scale beatle bass...had it for a year and then bought the real thing. the hofner is a fine instrument, like going from a chevy to a bmw. sounds great through a vox t-60 amp. If you have the means, I highly recommend it.

Comments about Hofner 5000/1 Deluxe 4-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I have had mine for several years and still enjoy playing it. We paly a lot of music from the sixties, so both the sound and the look fit our style. The light weight makes a four hour gig a lot easier as well. Whether you collect it or use it, it is a special instrument and generates a lot of conversatins with both fellow musicians and fans.

Has a good sound, looks great, and is fun to play

Comments about Hofner 5000/1 Deluxe 4-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I play bass in a rock band. We do lots of songs from the 60s (including many songs by the Beatles) and 70s. I was looking for a violin bass that would sound better than the one I've been playing for ten years, and I wanted it to be light and easy to play during 4 hour practice sessions and gigs. This bass meets those requirements and then some. My bandmates love the way it looks and sounds. It's also the lightest bass I've ever played, yet it is solidly constructed. The instrument I ended up purchasing is actually the second one I examined, the first one not meeting expectations. The problem with the first instrument was that the A, and especially the E, strings had dead spots midway up the neck and higher. Guitar Advisor Derek White was extremely helpful in facilitating a swap for a second instrument, which is the one I ended up purchasing. This instrument does have one dead spot along the E string at the 13th fret, but otherwise has an excellent sound. The bottom line: I'm having fun playing this bass!

I've played in a few bands since the 60s and now playing 60s to 90s. Ideal light weight and quality throughout. A pleasure to play and proud to own it. Compliments from musos everywhere I go.
