If you're looking for that new bass tool to enrich your creative palette, The Ibanez Bass Workshop may have built your next instrument. This new product group focuses on combining unusual concepts with the bass-building virtuosity on which Ibanez has built its reputation.
Endless sustain may be the most over used catch-phrase in the bass business, but curb the cynicism: The BTB Terra Firma (BTB685SCNTF) gets you as close to that physically impossible objective as youre ever going to get without electronic gimmickry. But sustain is only half the story. A longer 35" scale ensures plenty of tension on those 5th and 6th strings. Thru-neck design, Bartolini BH1 pickups, and the unique approach of the Mono-Rail II bridgewhich isolates each string as if it had its own separate mini-bridgecome together to deliver sonic richness throughout the instruments frequency range. The Ibanez EQIIIS 3-band EQ with mid-frequency switching, ensures youll easily find the tonal sweet-spot you need in any given musical situation.

Comments about Ibanez BTB685SC Terra Firma with Bartolini Pickups 5-String Electric Bass Guitar:
just like the all the recent Ibanez bass lines especially BTBs, BTB685SC has all the great features like playability, tone, beautiful looks.
So i was trying to buy a beautiful single cut 5 string less than $1k, but this was the only one that has proper beefy single cut on body(the bruxxxker single cut is a jk), with all the features for long sustain.(35"scale, tilt headstock, monorail bridge, thruneck construction, massive body mass)
It sounds very clear, and has characteristics of Bartorlini pickups. If you are not fan of the clear, boosted tone, you will have to cut all eq knobs little bit to get passive-like active tone like active jazz basses. The mid frequency switch works really great. It offers you different type of sounds. I found that if you switch to 600hz, it give you mid-high growl like MTD basses.
No gig bag or case was included. I guess in that part Ibanez managed to cut the price range under a grand. I ordered MONO bass sleeve, and it fits perfectly.
I dont see myself getting other basses for a while. I am really satisfied with this bass, and gonna stick with it :)
