This is my first Ibanez bass, and I must say I'm verrrry impressed with it. My first bass was a Schecter Stiletto Custom 6 6-String bass, and as much as I love it... My SR305 is getting alot of love from me. I love the tone of it, and I love the playability, and now I feel like I will be playing my SR more than my Schecter. This bass is affordable (I was going to get the Gary Willis GWB35, but decided it was too spendy).I think this bass has what it takes to crank out a great sound. Just be sure to buy some flatwounds so you don't mess up the fingerboard (it will sound alot better too)!I really enjoy playing this bass, if you decide to take up an extended range fretless, this is the one for you. You will LOVE what you get!
I already had an Ibanez GSR and a Fender 5 string J-Bass, but I decided I wanted to step into the world of fretless. This was definitely the way to go. This thing really packs a punch with its excellent active system. There are so many sound possibilities with the 3-band EQ. The bass looks awesome. The pearl white finish shines and doesn't show hand smudge. For a fretless beginner like me, the markers on the freeboard make it just as easy to figure out as a fretted bass. Overall, I am very satisfied.Be sure to buy some flatwound strings, though. It sounds so much better.
this would be my second ibanez and i will say im quite impressed. i had an ibanez gsr100 and i was just getting sick of 4 strings. i wanted to get more technical and be able to keep up with my bands guitarists both with 7 strings. its a pretty good bass and sounds excellent with my acoustic 250 watt half stack. i wouldve much rather got the schecter stiletto 5 string frettless but it was just way to expensive. so im glad i found this thing. all in all its a pretty good bass, do if your looking for a 5 string and you are low on cash, like me, then i would get this. now i can finally wright more material. woohoo!
