The dual EXF-4 pickups and an upgraded 3-band Style Sweeper EQ deliver improved overall sound whether you're grooving on the low-end for some crunchy classic rock, or working the full fretboard for a more pop sound.

I am 37 years old and have been playing since I was 13. I have owned and played a variety of basses from the P Bass, to a Ric and this can hold its own just fine. Do not expect a top end axe for the price but I was surpised to how slim and fast the neck was, not to leave out the ranges of tones you can pull.  Out of the box, it was playable although I played around setting the bridge to my liking. It took me about 5 minutes with my amp to get the sound where I liked it and I was off and running. I love the active EQ on the SR-300. I wish my Ibanez SR-205 had the same thing. It is trully a versitile bass as mentioned by other reviews here. I am looking forward to playing this for many years to come.

Fantastic!

Features:

This is the first bass I have owned but I grew up around my siblings who both played bass and I have played my sister's $8,000 instrument and I like the sound of mine better. It has a very clean sound but it still manages to be powerfull and deep. The body itself is lightweight which is nice cause I usually walk places. Another thing that's really great is that you can play this bass every day for a month without having to tune it.

Features:

I love the range of tone you can get from this. you can go from a dark slap tone to a bright almost acoustic tone in seconds.

Quality:

Aside from some minor fret buzz and a loose knob when I got it this is an amazingly sturdy and reliable bass

Value:

Awesome, this blows the Fender Jazz basses i've played out of the water its great.

Overall:

Coolest bass i've ever played. Its versitile and light. Its looks amazing with the pewter finis I got it in.

If your starting out or just want a great bass buy it now.

A Techs Suggestion

Features:

For those of you that have a problem with the saddle screws working their way out try using a clear fingernail polish to lock them in place.

First thing is to set the saddles to the height you want and then proceed.

Use a toothpick to drizzle the nail polish on top of the screw and you'll be good to go in a few minutes.

Just a drop is all you need since it is thin enough to work it's way into the threads and when it comes time to adjust the saddles the screws will break loose easily.

I've been using this little trick since the 70's and it really works. The only precaution I suggest is to put some rags around the body to avoid getting a drop of polish on the finish.

It's fingernail polish !!!   What Quality ???
