Very Nice Bass at Very Nice Price

| Review By: JustAStrummer | 2 weeks, 5 days ago

Features:

5-strings and a fast (relatively thin) neck. Finger-slap feature works reasonably well but takes a little amp adjustment too.

Quality:

Looks and feels well made. Did not require any set up when it arrived.

Value:

This is a very nice bass guitar for the price. Would be interested to hear it next to the 405, which I think has upgraded pickups, but the standard Ibanez pickups are good.

Overall:

Overall this is an awesome bass for beginners or anyone that wants a 5-string without a lot of investment.

Overall:

I played the Ibanez SR305 a couple times at guitar center before buying it the look (Iron pewter) and the finger/slap knobs and the neck mad eme fall for it. i was worried about all the bad reviews but I was so excited to get my first 5 string bass even though when I first started playing i thought it was stupid, until I started getting into playing harder stuff (Trivium, Korn, Cradle of Filth, Etc.) and found out i need a 5 string to play most of my favorite bands. Then my guitarist got a 7 string ibanez and i knew by then i needed it to write our music. anyways i got it for Christmas 2 years ago and when it looked more beautiful then it did when i was at guitar center. The neck is the best! you couldn't ask for a thinner, more smoothing, comfortable neck!! I can play faster and better on this bass then my Epiphone Korean Flying V. I love It! This bass rocks my world. after messing with it i decided to stay on the slap sound because i like to play and write with a more warm and smooth sound, Doing so My highs where cut down a lot. I couldn't even hear them over the drums and guitar. and if i turned the treble boost too high it gave it the fieldy sound *Which i love because i play a lot of korn and he is a big influence to me* But when i wanted to play other bands or write my own suff i didnt want the sound. So i bought the GEB-7 equalizer pedal to equal it all out and after doing that it sounds like a prestige!! It has traveled since I opened it from the bock and I've even fell on stage with it (I like jumping around and goofing off so i fell* and it did nothing to it! i was so relived! It of course has belt scratches on the back but you can never get away from belt scratches lol. The case i have for it is to big so the neck moves it outta place every time *which i hate so i put shirts around it to keep it from doing that* but it never broke woohoo! and the 9 volt last forever! Anyways..... This is a awesome starter bass and a awesome main bass!!! You cant go wrong with it! Especially for the price!

Have to say I am very impressed with this bass. I bought the Ibanez SR 305. I've been looking for a 5-string for years and nothing stood out, they all felt a little awkward to play (I have small hands). This bass looks great, sounds great, and is a joy to play. It is light, and well proportioned and scaled. You get a incredible bass for the price. It's simple, yet handsome design helps keep the price down. With a little eye candy this bass could cost a lot more.

The value for what is paid is really good.  I've played more expensive basses and this one is the best.

Overall:

Overall this is a great bass.  I like it because it is lightweight and is a 5 string active bass. The quality is great.  This is the best bass I have owned. This bass has great tone and the color I have is roadster orange which is awesome.  The action is nice.

I have been looking at 5 string basses for a while and yesterday i got the opportunity to pick this one up. I am a huge KoRn fan so I am looking for the feildy sound. the one i picked up was actually in A tuning already and i tried some slap techniques on it. it was amazing! it almost takes no skill to play thins bass well. fretting is effortless and the body is as thin as a multy thousand dollar Ibanez prestige model. only thing that might turn one off is that it is very neck heavy, other than that, awesome. I'm saving up to buy it. anyone know a good reasonably priced bass amp that i could get for under $100? thats my next step
