I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for an upgrade," but not familiar with the possibilities of a 5 string.
I'm an intermediate Bassist (3 yrs) and wanted to upgrade to a 5 string with a low ""B"". I bought this bass used and have had it for a month now. I really dig the style sweeper knob that goes from finger to slap. I don't slap yet", however I found that option useful for dialing tones that I can't get out of my other basses. The pickup blend knob is pretty good and really enhances the tonal range from fat/low to bright and pingy. The best part of the bass for me is that really small neck radius (smaller than a jazz neck profile) because I have small hands. Currently I have GHS medium scale Bass Boomers (low B - .126) on this," run through a Boss Overdrive and Dunlap 10 band EQ pedal and plugged into either my Genz-Benz Shuttle 3.0 (12"") or my Ampeg Micro SVT. The only drawback is the height of the pickups are a little too close to the strings despite the standard height adjustment of the action. If you really want to play aggressive", you may find it a little difficult.
The quilted maple top is a touch to the appearance along with the matching headstock makes this bass look high end, without the highend price.
This is a great bass for the higher-ish end beginner or intermediate player with a ton of tonal options.

Comments about Ibanez SR405QM Soundgear 5-String Electric Bass:
Been at this a long time. Older players, like me, often run into hand and shoulder issues. I've been searching for a thin fast neck for some time, always thinking the only way to get comfort would be a shorter scale. This bass maintains the 34" scale, while allowing outstanding comfort, and playability. Highly recommend this instrument for all level of players.

Comments about Ibanez SR405QM Soundgear 5-String Electric Bass:
I own the four string version of this bass. and had been looking for a five string this Bass fits the bill nice action stays in tune, and sounds great. I love how well its balanced and how light weight it is, very thin body and neck is awesome like all SR basses. I can see this becoming the only axe I use and I have 4 others. I run it through a Carvin RL 600,siezmic 3x10 cab and for that extra punch carvin 118cab very nice bass you wont be disappointed.

Comments about Ibanez SR405QM Soundgear 5-String Electric Bass:
I own 5 guitars, and this one is easily the best sounding and best playing one. Its a solid guitar for anyone. The guitar came set up and ready to play right off the shelf, just fiddle with the tone to your liking and your set. If your buying a 5 string for the first time, I would advise you to pick this up, she's a beaut!

They only thing i dont like about it is it looks TOO good!! I feel underdressed ever time I play it!
There is nothing to complain about on this bass!
I wish it was a nek through but thats not a quality issue, this bass plays and sounds great , love the narrow SR string spacing , and thin neck.
Im giving this bass a ten Becuase it is so comfy to play , sounds great and feels great , love the narrow string spacing and its not a shoulder killer!
Comments about Ibanez SR405QM Soundgear 5-String Electric Bass:
All in all, I'd say a great instrument to have to your collection if you're on an intermediate level of play. Great for the metal scene or even punk if you like that extra low "B" in your music.
I found this bass to be a great guitar with the neck radius and the lighter weight than most other basses I've played. Especially for a 5 string, this bass is EXTREMLEY lightweight. I'm a fan of all the tone/pickup knobs as well. The pickups don't really bother me all that much because I'm a "light" player anyway. The only feature I didn't really mind, but wasn't extremley fond of was the output jack. I prefer a top jack for "L" shaped cables, but the angled straight jack works for me I suppose
The quality is fairly good on this bass, but that depends on what you'd be comparing it to. Gibson Thunderbird? I'd give it about a 5 or 6. B.C. Rich Warlock, I'd give it a 10. It has a great sound, especially if used with my Acoustic B100 amp.Sometimes I'll run it through a chorus pedal for that extra little sound tweak and it sounds beautiful...
I'd say it's fairly priced. It's what I would expect for the type, brand, and materials of the bass.

I BOUGHT THIS BASS FROM A LOCAL MUSIC STORE ABOUT A YEAR AGO. IT HAS DONE EVERYTHING I NEEDED IT TO DO. VERSATILE TONES LIGHT WEIGHT THIN COMFORTABLE NECK. EXCELLENT BASS FOR THE MONEY IT CANT BE BEAT.
Comments about Ibanez SR405QM Soundgear 5-String Electric Bass:
This bass has one of the greatest bodies I have ever seen. The picture truly does it no justice. The catch is the pick-ups. They are bowed, this causes two negatives. They get in the way, and they grumble B string. The pick-ups are annoying because you always hit them, whether your using fingers or picks. I love this bass, its wonderful and I have gigged with it, but it is a small setback.
