Decent but not top notch.

A little over priced for sure.

Overall:

For the last 20 years I've been playing a 6 string Dr. Hartfield. I've been searching to replace it and hoped the 6 string Ibanez Prestige would do it because of the reviews and ratings. Although the Ibanez is an interesting bass, and looks good on paper, it does not scream to be played. The best feature is how it looks. It's a beauty. The pickups are clean and clear allowing the natural tone to come through. But thats where the joy ends. The tone is thuddy, dark, and unexciting. If you never slap, then it's a fine classic wood bass tone. If you do slap, play chords, and cook dinner on a bass, then this instrument is only slighly above average. The neck is a dissapointment. The craftsmanship is not stellar and there are slight uneven pockets along the neck. The width is a nice size but compared to a Ken Smith burner, there is a huge difference in quality. The low B buzzes forever, even the E buzzes a little. A good bassist can make any bass be good, but if you shell out over 2k, you shouldn't have to "work with it". It should work for you.

had this bass for about a month now. this bass sounds unbelievable. it's dangerously smooth and looks just as good as it plays. its really light for a six string and the neck is so thin.

One of the best basses I've ever played

I got this bass back in november and I has been one of the best investments I've ever made. The bass plays really well and feels amazing. It sounds great even through the crappiest of practice amps. One of the best featues it has is the fact that you can switch the bass from active to passive with the flip of a switch. No more dead batteries when show up to band practice! The thing is that I really haven't had to ever use the eq (except for effects) and find that I enjoy the simplicity of it's operation when it's just passive (and using the amp to do more of the tone shaping, of which it needs very little). There are however two down sides to this bass. It is VERY expensive and is rarely in stock places for you to try out. The other is the fact that it doesn't have a trap door for battery access so after you've spent all the money on this bass you still have to whip out the screw driver everytime you change the batteries.
