I'm loving this bass - it has a beautiful sleek design and plays like a god.The active humbuckers give you great tone, especially combined with the extremely versatile preamp controls - not only can you cut bass or treble frequencies, you can boost as well, and switch between the two pickups smoothly, for a variety of sound - rock, jazz, anything. It's very comfortable to play and well balanced - it will never nose dive on you if you let go of the neck. The thin neck and medium frets are wonderful for fast playing or for people with smaller hands - plus, you have a slightly higher range with 24 frets. The action can be set very low with no fret buzz.My only complaint is that the tuning pegs are a little sensitive and get bumped out of tune easily, but that's not too much a problem. It's still built like a tank, albeit not as heavy. For the price, this is one hell of a bass. I will definitely be using this one for a long time.Get it and you will be pleased.

This bass i ordered from here, and from the first day i got it, it sounded fine just one problem my action was to low i don't like the action to low because of the fuzzy sound so i raised it and as i raised it you couldn't get the saddles to line right to stop making fuzzy sounds when you strum a string so i fiddled with it for a while and realized the screws were 2 different sized through out the bass saddles so i switched in some longer screws and now some of them won't even go into the screw whole, this bass is pretty good except for the fact that the bridge and saddles is all on wack.

Great Value

By Madhava Acharya

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

For the money this is a fantastic bass. I got it in white and it looks great. The thin neck and low action makes it easy to move up and down the neck. Once you master the tone knobs you will have a great control over your eq settings. The bass is slightly heavy but very well balanced. Finally the tone is as good as some basses that I've tried that cost nearly twice as much. I've done lots of gigs and traveling with this bass and it is still in pretty good shape. My knobs are loosening that is the only issue.
If you like active electronics and good tone control this bass has it for sure.
The knobs may start to loosen up after a year or two but everything else has held up just fine.
I've played basses that cost double the price of this and have about the same overall quality.

Lookin for a new bass, tried it out at the store and it seemed ok for the price. couple weeks later the neck started to warp and the saddles on the bridge are terrible, the action drops every day. the store wont take it back and i cant get anyone to fix it. this is a crap bass.

Great starting bass

By Kyle-zjfiX

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

i purchased this bass back in october as my first bass. It is a very no-frills bass. You can get some decent tonality from the EQ, but a pedal helps. The guitar is very durable however. It plays great, not much fret buzz if you have some stronger fingers. It can play pretty fast, isn't very heavy, and is an all around good value.

Good bang for your buck

By Jay-eWlPG

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

This bass is just what it's advertised as. It's a reliable "no frills" bass. I've been abusing this thing for over a year now and it holds up well. If you are willing to accept the fact that you're not going to get the bells and whistles of a higher end bass but want something that plays comfortably and puts out some pretty decent thump...I recommend this bass to any artist on a budget.

An ok bass.

By Dixie Dog

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I bought this bass last summer, and it isn't worth the money. About one year later, its pick ups started to slowly fade away until now its just static. The knobs have started coming off too. It took me almost a month to contact Ibanez. There was some good things about it. For one, I have smaller hands and the thin neck was alsome. I actually liked the sound it put out (at least until it crapped out on me). And I like the paint. So if you have the money and the patience, this wouldn't be a bad bass. But if your like me, you probley wouldn't want to buy it.

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I have played in many bands, and traveled with them quite a bit. I have also played many basses, but after playing this one, I'll never go back to any of the other ones. It sounds great, great playability and feel, and it looks cool. Buy this bass, you won't regret it.

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I bought this bass yesterday, and i havent been able to put it down. It plays amazing, pickups are fantastic. I cant say enough about it. It can really boom out the lows and still hit the highs. Great bass for the value, whether you have been playing for years or just picking it up.

Consider this bass...

By HalfInchHead

from Seattle, WA.

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

16 years I've been playing bass. I've owned one other Ibenez and it was so weak that I swore I'd never buy an other Ibenez.Understand I've owned more basses than I can remember.I walked past this bass at the music store and was taken by it's beauty. So I played it. It sounded damn nice for a low end bass. 3 knobs had fallen off... so I decided that for the 1,000 difference of buying a high end model I could upgrade this one. Now I have my favorite bass ever.

A Decent bass...

By LDCatastrophe

from Brooklyn, NY

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I gave this bass a whirl and felt it was decent. A bit heavy, a bit uncomfortable to play, and the finish on the neck wasn't that great... None too fond of the type of knobs used either, but all that's neither here nor there. The tone can do a surprising amount of shaping, but the pickups overdrive a bit too easily. Also, if you're into getting a thin, but still bassy sound (think sweeping the mids) it can't do it like a Fender Jazz. But it's a totally different animal than a Fender Jazz, and it's useless to compare apples to oranges. This bass is alright for what it does tonally, and the price ain't bad. I'd recommend it for use as a "beater" bass or a piece to mod.I would also recommend that you use an active EQ pedal with this, because despite the built-in EQ, this could use some help with tonal shaping.
