I just found one of these used, and it's a great find. With round wounds, the pickups give it a powerful driving sound which is great for live performances in rock, metal, and other overdrive styles. With flats you can get the action low, and slide easy with a old school bottom thump. And the 2 ban EQ is easy to go from a Reggae sound to Rock, Blues, Country, and funk. Although, not the ideal for Jazz style and piano tone. This one was over 8 years old, and in mint condition. The craftsmanship from Indonesia is very good, the guitar held up well under extreme weather conditions, and the neck is easy to adjust. If you can find one of these, give it a try.

This bass i ordered from here, and from the first day i got it, it sounded fine just one problem my action was to low i don't like the action to low because of the fuzzy sound so i raised it and as i raised it you couldn't get the saddles to line right to stop making fuzzy sounds when you strum a string so i fiddled with it for a while and realized the screws were 2 different sized through out the bass saddles so i switched in some longer screws and now some of them won't even go into the screw whole, this bass is pretty good except for the fact that the bridge and saddles is all on wack.

    Great Value

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

For the money this is a fantastic bass. I got it in white and it looks great. The thin neck and low action makes it easy to move up and down the neck. Once you master the tone knobs you will have a great control over your eq settings. The bass is slightly heavy but very well balanced. Finally the tone is as good as some basses that I've tried that cost nearly twice as much. I've done lots of gigs and traveling with this bass and it is still in pretty good shape. My knobs are loosening that is the only issue.
If you like active electronics and good tone control this bass has it for sure.
The knobs may start to loosen up after a year or two but everything else has held up just fine.
I've played basses that cost double the price of this and have about the same overall quality.

    Happy with my purchase

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I started playing bass three months ago. My first bass was a nice Korean product, but my teacher (a real pro) recommended I look at the Ibanez line. Wise decision. My fingers now just seem to fall onto the right fret automatically. I love the beautiful deep, shiny black with the white trim. It's a great looking instrument. My teacher says it has great pickups on it. It came with D'Addgio's on it, and I LOVE the sound. My next bass will probably be a Fender Jazz with some flatwounds, but I feel this great bass will take me a long way toward being worthy of something more expensive. GREAT sound, and GREAT value, IMHO! I'll probably never sell this one.

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

This bass is just what it's advertised as. It's a reliable "no frills" bass. I've been abusing this thing for over a year now and it holds up well. If you are willing to accept the fact that you're not going to get the bells and whistles of a higher end bass but want something that plays comfortably and puts out some pretty decent thump...I recommend this bass to any artist on a budget.

    Bass to Fill Anybody's Needs

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

This bass really impresses me everytime I pick it up to play it. You can feel the quality when you pick it up. I like the "medium" size frets, the action is quick and the neck is thin and easy to play. I love the dual Humbuckers with active electronics; You can get a wide variety of sound for whatever style of music you want to play from smooth jazzy tones to in-your-face heavy rock! Another great feature is its perfect balance. You dont have to worry about it "nose-diving" if you let go of it. My band plays gigs alot and this thing is constantly being put to the test and so far this bass has surpassed all my expectations that I have had for it. This is such an easy to play, well made bass, and with the price not being through the roof, just about anybody that wants to spend just a little more than a bare basic base model bass will get a quality bass that compares to others costing hundreds of dollars more.

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I'm not crazy about the cheap neck, but with a bass a good neck is less crucial than a guitar. The body is great, the electronics are better, the sound is as good as a Gibson or Fender, this is the best bass on the market for the price.

    An ok bass.

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I bought this bass last summer, and it isn't worth the money. About one year later, its pick ups started to slowly fade away until now its just static. The knobs have started coming off too. It took me almost a month to contact Ibanez. There was some good things about it. For one, I have smaller hands and the thin neck was alsome. I actually liked the sound it put out (at least until it crapped out on me). And I like the paint. So if you have the money and the patience, this wouldn't be a bad bass. But if your like me, you probley wouldn't want to buy it.

Never doubted it for a second

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I'm loving this bass - it has a beautiful sleek design and plays like a god.The active humbuckers give you great tone, especially combined with the extremely versatile preamp controls - not only can you cut bass or treble frequencies, you can boost as well, and switch between the two pickups smoothly, for a variety of sound - rock, jazz, anything. It's very comfortable to play and well balanced - it will never nose dive on you if you let go of the neck. The thin neck and medium frets are wonderful for fast playing or for people with smaller hands - plus, you have a slightly higher range with 24 frets. The action can be set very low with no fret buzz.My only complaint is that the tuning pegs are a little sensitive and get bumped out of tune easily, but that's not too much a problem. It's still built like a tank, albeit not as heavy. For the price, this is one hell of a bass. I will definitely be using this one for a long time.Get it and you will be pleased.

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

I've been playing for two years on a Fender Marcus Miller Signature Jazz. I could never really get that gritty punchy tone that I wanted from a bass guitar. I tried every kind of amp/cabinet comination I could. The other day I sat down at local music shop and played every style bass on the wall and kept coming back to this one. I bought it on the spot. The tone is exactly what I've been missing for years. I can't say much for the quality yet that will come in time. The two band centered EQ set up is so simple and gives more tonal options than most guitars I've played. I also like the sweepable pick ups. You can really dial in the sound you want. Like I said, punchy, punchy, punchy. I love it so far!

    Excellent!

Comments about Ibanez SRX2EX1 4-String Bass:

This was my first bass and I love it! It is so easy to play. I bought it in black. It is so easy to get like a couple billion different sounds out of it too. From solid punk to screaming metal! I love the Rosewood finger board it gives it a bit of a camo look which is just awesome! The weight it awesome its just heavy enough to hang tight but its still easy to throw around. The only thing I don't about it is that this finish is shiny and if you touch it leave finger prints. Me and my friends say if someone steals it and we get it back we will know who stole it because they will have left a fingerprint. But other than that it is a GREAT bass I recommend it to all.
