OVERVIEW

A broad range of vintage tones.

The Kay Pro Bass, a reissue of the classic K162, has the volume and bite of an electric bass guitar, but when plucked softly, sounds like an upright bass. Solo and rhythm effects are unlimited. Get that unique Chicago-style jazzy blues sound from the semi-hollowbody chamber design and single-coil blade pickup. A special dual-capacitor switch kicks the Pro Bass into overdrive. It cuts the high range and adds punch and the deep tone of a standup bass. Includes hardshell case.

Comments about Kay Vintage Reissue Guitars Reissue Pro Bass Guitar:

I really like this bass. I have owned it for a few years now, and can't think of a single negative. Finish is flawless, tone is great, and playability is super as well. If you like the vintage look and tone, you will love this Kay.

Comments about Kay Vintage Reissue Guitars Reissue Pro Bass Guitar:

I recently purchased a K162VB Pro Bass in the UK which I must say I'm delighted with the Kay Pro Bass, even though I was doubtful of buying a guitar made in China at first. I really love this bass and everything about it especially the authentic vintage 50/60's tone it reproduces. However to cut to the chase I'm having difficulty in finding replacement strings for this instrument,
Please could you advise where I can purchase the factory gauge set as I do not wish to change a thing in the feel or playability or advise if you can supply.

Hope you can help and I look forward to hearing from you.

      Kindest regards,

      Roger

      Bass Strings Size and Gauges:
The K162V bass would be considered short scale by most.
Generally 31' or less is short scale.
      G-String 0.040" flat wound.
      D-String 0.055" flat wound.
      A-String 0.070" flat wound.
      E-String 0.095 flat wound.

      These strings are not commercially available for direct sale, however;

The Labella LB-760FX-S extra light is closest commercially available set. The LaBella string quality is very good just make sure the package says for SHORT SCALE

      Hope this helps
