- Was this a gift?:
This was the first bass I have ever owned. It has a really great sound. Holds the tunings perfect. I have it tuned in Drop C. I haven't had to retune it ever since. Really light weight, and really easy to play on stage. But to me tuning it is a pain. Still I recommend this to anyone looking for a good bass.
I went into my guitar shop today because my OLP 5-String is dead and gone, and I picked up this bass. The first thing I noticed about this bass is how simple looking it is, but at the same time, it is a sharp looking bass. I played a black one. The volume and tone knob are very responsive, and the simplest twist of the tone knob unleashes the next tone. I went from playing thrash to playing a funk slap line in a half twist. The neck is small and fast, and the string spacing is perfect. The single humbucker is loud, and is perfectly placed to not get in your way when picking, slapping, or plucking. Awesome bass.
This is my first bass guitar, and for its price it is the best thing you can play on. If you don't mind having limited control over your sound because of only 2 knobs, then you can dive right in with this, the neck is so easy to move your hands up and down and it has an orgasmic twangy sound, buy it and melt some face!
I got one as a gift for a back up. When I plugged and played all I got was a bogus distorted noise. I promptly returned to the store for a refund. Too bad, it was kind of nice looking and light on the shoulder.
