I've had my Wav 4 for about a year now and I love it. It needs a preamp to bump up the tone a little bit, and when you set the levels just right it sounds perfect. I use it for jazz and it sounds like the real thing on the arco mode. It has a great "thump" to it but plenty of sustain as well. Also, you don't have to worry about any feedback that you would get with an acoustic upright and it is tiny so transportation, for instance, isn't a problem. A lot of people recommend getting better strings immediately but the ones it comes with work well, they just need to be broken in to sound a bit more dark. Also, if you want to use it for pizzicato stuff I'd recommend looking at the optional end-pin rather than the tripod. It allows you to pull through and get behind the strings a bit more. It also sounds great with a bow. I'd recommend this bass to anyone. The strings and action are easy on the fingers, and the cheater dots are great if you're a bass guitarist looking to move to upright.

        Hidden Delight

        By Bassman82

Finally, an affordable electric upright bass that sounds as good as it plays. As a studio musician transporting gear can be a hassle. The WAV 4's convenient gig bag and easy to use tripod stand, knock set up and tear down time in half. With a such a great sounding bass, all you have to do now is play.

        A Great EUB

        By Lenny

A great EUB right out of the box. Looks like a million bucks and plays even better. Sounds really sweet run through my sans amp pedal adjusted for the piezos. Very happy with my WAV4.

        Great Bass

        By Fred-U_mzm

This bass is as good as they come. I cannot find anything wrong with it. I cleaned up the sound running it through a Boss equalizer. Sounds and looks great. It's big brother's may cost more but cannot sound any better. An excellent buy for anyone, pro or beginner.

        Great bass, terrible tripod

        By MikeRS562

        from Clinton, MA

I have used this bass now for several months and love the realistic upright sound without the size of an acoustic one. It had a few buzzes on the neck when I got it and it took a few weeks to adjust it so they would all stop but it was nothing that a few tweaks to the truss rod and bridge didn't fix.My only gripe is the tripod. The rubber washer at the base where it can be opened up to stand keeps moving when I open it and never resets. This has gotten so bad that I can't even open or close it at all anymore because the washer is so badly pulled out. I can't even raise the rest of it more than a foot of the ground because of how that one problem locked the whole unite up. Now I have no choice but to buy another tripod.

        The NS Experience

        By PJ Antonetty

        from Staten Island New York

I saw this bass and I had to try it. I have always struggled to play an upright because of the fingering problem but when I saw the dots on the fretboard it blew me away. I could not believe I was playing this bass with ease so much so that someone standing by and they said that I played very well. I am getting one right away. I wanted to do a jazz album for a long time with an upright, this will be my dream upright.

this one is a sweet deal. this was a very sweet deal for me. best sound for the money. For all of you that are looking for the real thing, I urgently recommend getting an Obligato set...true, not like real DB but very close to it. this bass is amazing and I would recommend it to any one from a beginner to advance player (with a mini car).

        Great EUB...at any price!

This stick is awesome. Nice UB sound with some tone tweaking. No mag pups like its much more expensive brother, but the piezos have incredible sound.A stand, a bag and a great sounding and playing EUB that is almost a work of art ...my wife even lets me keep it in the living room!

This EUB is a great instrument!

        By Kontrabass

        from Dallas Texas

I'm an upright player who plays a lot of shows and pit work. There have always been situations that come along that make using my upright bass a challenge. Issues such as limited space, dangerous pit conditions, doubling on electric bass, and amplification/pickup issues had led me to search for an EUB that would provide a convincing doublebass tone (pizz. and arco) in a given musical context. After playing a number of shows with this instrument I have resolved that it address all of these issues really well. I am particularly happy with the arco sound once I roll of the highs with the tone knob and also the fact that it uses passive electronics. My Wav4 was made very well for the price point (i.e. no manufacturing issues) and being that it rests on its own stand, I can play both electric and EUB without having to change axes in a frenzy by simply leaning into the Wav4 while still wearing my electric bass. I really like this bass!

The absolute best EUB for the money

        By NightRavin

        from Denver CO

I have been waiting for NS to come out with a cheaper model EUB for some time and let me tell you the wait was well worth it! this bass is fantastic it actually resembles a UB in its tonal quality and fell. I have noticed that this bass uses a piezo pickup which needs to be run through a pre-amp. once this is done the WAV 4 will really shine. I love this bass and recomend it to everyone.
