The play feels almost exactly like my SR485, except for the beefy neck, which I prefer anyway. Tonewise, it is extremely thick and dark, but not without definition. The pickups are obviously low output for a more activey sound, very clean and deep. Good rumbling bass. Lots of little details like recessed neck bolts, no fret markers, and a contoured head/neck joint. I was also impressed by the fact that Warwick is the only manufacturer to not only choose not to distance itself from its econo line, but shout it from the rooftops, "Hey, get your cheap Warwicks here!" Tells you how much confidence they have in the product, and really makes you think they care about the product they put out and their customers. I would dare call it classy.

I played the Rock Bass Corvette Basic 5-er in a local store, and then I played this one. I was amazed that the same company made these two basses and there was such a dramatic difference in the quality! The Streamer copy (and this is a cheap rip off in my opinion) feels solid only because it is a big freakin' slab of wood with no comfortable contours! I thought the tone was extremely weak, I did not like that the jack is mounted on the front of the body, I did not like the passive tone control (and my main ax is a passive 4)... There is just so much wrong with this bass! Anyone who buys it probably wants something with the name Warwick on it, and they should save their money for the Corvette Basic RockBass, if not the real thing. Don't be that guy -- the poser who buys this bass because it has Warwick on the headstock!!!

A nice first five string

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

This was the first five-string I purchased. While the passive electronics don't produce the sound of the high-end Warwick?s, I have found this guitar to be a delight to play, very roadworthy and overall a great guitar for the price. I've since added more expensive 5's to the collection, but I won't part with this one.

not the best but not bad...

By Bob-n00QC

from Starkville, MS

I bought this bass 2 years ago because I needed a low budget but quality bass... and it is just that. Its not the best bass in the world, but it has a good sound and it feels like a warwick. It is as solid as a rock(no pun intended) and holds tune really well. So while it is not my favorite bass ever I would definitly recomend this bass to somebody that wants a low budget but quality instrument.

Intonation was slightly off, but it will make any bass #2.

Best bass for the money

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I was looking for a five string bass that had neither a crowded nor extremely wide neck, and this bass has the feel that I was looking for. The sound is also unmatched by any bass in the price range and it possesses the warm growl that warwicks are known for. I would recommend this bass to anybody who is looking for a great bass with a good sound, but doesn't wanna pay the big bucks.

Needs a little bit of work on it after you get it.

By Sikiz99

from El Paso, TX

You're gonna have to fix it up. But, after you do, and you're a metal bassist, it'll play freakin awesome with that kick !@$ tone and heavy sound!

SOLID!!!

By joe-SFQh.

from michigan

I have played many basses of different brands and prices and this... this is THE BEST. The playability of the bass is wonderful, it feels so SOLID to play. It feels like you're playing a really nice bass guitar. wait, you are! But you would have never guessed from how much it costs! The passive, dual coil pickups have an awesome, bright, growling, deep tone. Overall, this bass is ultimately satisfying to play and hear, you'll be amazed you paid so little!

The neck warps and the strap-holders break easily.

By Sikiz99

from El Paso, TX

It has a very nice sound but the rest is just horrible - I was standing up with it and the strap holders just gave out. The insides stripped!
