I bought this bass in metallic blue several months ago with the intention of transforming it into a 10-string bass, five pairs of strings each tuned in octaves. I had to get a new bridge and cut new string grooves in the barrels. I had a new nut professionally cut. I put a set of D'Addario strings for an 8-string bass plus a new .130 B-string and a .050 for the octave B string. I re-did the head stock, by filling the original tuner hoes and re-drilling ten new ones. I also painted the headstock to match the body and put a squiggly metallic blue stripe down the back of the neck. The end result is astonishing. This little bass has held up to the tension of the additional strings. The intonation and action remained low, and I even got rid of a bit of fret buzz on the fifth string. I don't recommend anyone trying this with a lot of prior experience, which I have. I didn't touch the pickups or the electronics, because it sounds great as is and has a very wide tonal range. I don't know about player's taste for the pickups, or maybe I just got an exceptionally good one, but the pickups on my Rogue are pretty darn strong. The bottom line is, this inexpensive bass is built like a tank even for a bolt-on design. I feel it is a very good value for the money.

Opened the outer box and then inner box, which was corrugated cardboard 1 ply thick, no reinforcement at top or bottom with Styrofoam or additional cardboard. Box was like a gift box where the top covers the bottom, which masked the fact that the lower box was torn apart at the bottom, and a shipping label was used to cover it.

The base was wrapped in thin white foam, and when I removed it the body was chipped on the bottom with abrasions across the back, one of the tuners was missing a screw, and two of the pods for the tone and volume were missing. It looks like the box gave way in the manufacturer's or Musician's Friend's warehouse (inspection sticker from manufacture leads me to believe the latter)the bass fell out and was somehow drug or pushed across the floor on its back, then re-boxed and shipped to me. Got a return authorization and it's on it's way back ASAP. Will try one more time with another order, but so far of the 5 Rogue guitars and basses I've ordered, only the 2 acoustic electrics and Six string bass were keepers on the first try.

Comments about Rogue LX205B 5-String Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

I needed a 5 string but didn't have a lot of cash so I took a chance on this one and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. This thing is amazingly well built for being under two hundred. I use it in my home studio only so I couldn't tell you how it would hold up on the road but for what I use it for it's seriously impressive for the price.

The guitar arrived blemished. The back side had a crack on the plate. This did not look like a new guitar.
We have not tried it out, but hopefully it plays true to tone.

Comments about Rogue LX205B 5-String Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

I purchased this Bass around 2002 and actually STILL have the same strings on it.
I have played for three different church bands as well as a gospel quartet and that quartet produced a CD in a studio.
I used this same Bass for all those events..
I have absolutely NO Complaints on the quality and sound I get from this unit.
All going through a Peavey TKO115 Amp.

Bought it during on sale. Will never reach the same price for a 5-stringer. Surprising good tone and easy tuning but weak nut , so be gentle.Fret not very smooth and the buzz not annoying but need to do some adjustment.Quite loud for a passive but need some amp eq adjustment because the treble is quite high.
You got what you pay for and i'm satisfied as my backup bass.

Comments about Rogue LX205B 5-String Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

I got this bass for a road trip just for practicing in the car. The first thing I noticed when I started playing was how amazing the action was. My other bass is a Ibanez gsr 200 and it has HORRIBLE fret buzz, so I was extremely happy with this bass for that reason. The low b on many basses can have a tendency to sound rather flat and odd, but I thought this one was very clear and nice. I haven't played it with an amp much, but it seems to sound just fine with the volume turned all the way up or down on my smallish ampeg, and I didn't play with the tone nobs on the actual bass much but it didn't sound too muddy at all. I like having two pickups so that I can choose where to put my thumb to get a bit of a different sound and I like the 24 frets as well. I got it in white and I thought it would be slightly off white but it's actually a very nice metallic-ish bright white. It doesn't hold the tuning nearly as well as my Ibanez but that's pretty minor. The setup wasn't too hard either.
