A special version of the classic Schecter design with hot EMG pickups.

The Schecter CV-4 electrtic Bass is hot looking and hot playing. An alder body with a sharp black finish offers a clean and modern look. The neck and fingerboard have that smooth, fast Schecter feel, while EMG pickups and active electronics offer enough sonic versatility to cover a wide range of musical styles.

    EMG pickups
The MMHZ bridge pickup features a dual-coil design for low noise and plenty of output and CS design (ceramic and steel). The CS design has the punch and fullness of the older passive designs along with added brightness for a better-defined tone. EMG's Active CS Series pickups feature the same construction and have proven popular among bass players. Each pickup is fully shielded for a minimum of noise.

The SJHZ neck pickup uses a stacked design with ceramic magnets and a laminated steel core for increased output and lower noise.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 CV-4 Electric Bass Guitar:

I love my Schecter, after a couple weeks it began to buzz on the 12th fret. Especially when playing The seventh fret. But overall it is a great bass with solid pickups and a great feel.

I'm a new artist, just learning and I love the feel and output of this bass. The design is gorgeous. Not an expert but for the same price as low end basses I got soooo much more than I could've asked for.

Got bass today, got it out, tuned it up, plugged it in , and wow, played great, sounded great( and I normally don't like emghz pickups) but they work in this set up. Easy to dial in a stingray style tone, obviously, but the jazz pu compliments the humbucker very nicely. Best bang for buck bass I have bought in a long time thanks musicians friend!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 CV-4 Electric Bass Guitar:

Unbelievable price point at "Hot Deals" price. EMG pick ups and hardware retails the price alone. The on-board electronics are a cheapened version of the BTS HZ System and lacks a mid-range control but this is an easy upgrade to do in the future and would be well worth putting the money into. The pick ups are only as loud as passive pick-ups and it seems they require a 9-volt battery to fuction with the 2 band EQ.

I bought 3 of these. The first 2011 CV-4 I bought sorely needed a truss rod adjustment when it arrived but all the tools were included and within 10-15 minutes my bass was playing perfect with a buzz free performance with nice and low action. I was so pleased with the performance, I went ahead and ordered 2 more at this price point and gave one of them to my good friend.

The other 2 CV-4's arrived as though they had been repacked but still in perfect shape. Both required truss rods adjustments and slight fine tunning of the bridge but then played fantastic. They all sound very similar except 1 was slightly louder then the others. Some minor sanding/buffing/finish runs on the back of all of the necks head stocks except the initial bass. These flaws can only be seen in certain sunlight and certainly isn't very noticeable at all. Nice tight neck joints on all 3 basses(can't slip paper in there) with low action. Bass has a decent sound and could certainly cut a gig reliably as it is. Perfect for a professional back-up and any beginner couldn't go wrong after it had a rod adjustment and possibly a minor set-up that shouldn't cost more than 35 bones. I give it a 4/5 only because I will probably upgrade the electronics and possibly the pick-ups in one which adds to the price point. As it is for the price, these basses play and sound great. The basses were made in South Korea and they have the same quality, features and feel as most of the lower cost basses made over seas in the 400-500 price range.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 CV-4 Electric Bass Guitar:

This is an incredible bass considering the current price point. That being said, this is not going to compete with a 4 string MM Stingray (its marketed purpose).

My bass came to me in typical "returned then resold as new" condition. All of the tags were off then tossed back in the box, stickers were missing and it was tuned to D standard. I have to say that, of the last 5 bass purchases I have made from MF, 4 have been in similar condition. Despite that, and a slight bit of fret buzz, I will not be wasting my time returning or exchanging this bass as it is quite nice and a steal at the current price point.

Simply put, plan on a pro setup, (fifty extra buckaroos)and this bass will destroy anything up to the 450-500 mark. The pickups can be dialed in quite nicely, and allow one to achieve anything from pop n slap funk, to jazz, to even a nice metal growl. I was also able to dial in that Steve Harris p bass finger gallop sound (with a dash of fret buzz, the current setup will not allow heavy attacks).

As is, 3 star bass with a 5 star price point = 4 stars overall, Grab one while you can!

I purchased this bass two weeks ago. After its arrival,I took it to my local music store for setup. The esthetics and feel were exception.I did some research on the proper usage of the tuning knobs.I am running it through a Zoom B1x and the Ampeg Micro Cl.I also own an Ibanez Gio 200FM which I love. The comparison of the two gives the advantage to Schecter. You must own this bass to appreciate its craftsmanship and attention to detail.

              Schecter CV-4 bass

              By Stratman

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research 2011 CV-4 Electric Bass Guitar:

We expect gear to show up in good condition & be ready for us to play. I certainly can't say that about the CV-4. I am glad that Musicians Friend has a good return policy. It enabled me to get a much better bass, the Fender Modern Player Jazz bass. You can read my review on it if you are interested.
There are some good features to this bass. EMG active pickups & a price reduction attracted me to it.
Disappointing! The bass arrived with a bowed neck, extremely high setup, & a rough finish on parts of the neck. The back had sharp spots that made playing uncomfortable at best. The pickups had very low output. I have had some fine EMG pickups in the past, but these were not good. Certainly the setup could cause some of this deficiency, but the sticker emphasizing "setup by craftsman in the USA," should ensure a good job. Quality control may be a problem here.
Not much value here. We like gear that shows up in good condition & is ready to play. This bass did not.
