Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Diamond P-Custom 5 5-String Electric Bass Guitar:
I have been gigging 5 string basses for the past 20+ years. I have played anything from budget basses to high end $1000+ basses. This bass ranks right up there with anything I've ever enjoyed playing. The low B is very defined and pronounced. Probably one of the clearest I've ever played.
It came set up perfectly for me, nice and low with no fret buzz. The pickups are very hot, and provide endless tones.
Highly recommended

a great bass guitar
i really do like my new schecter 5 string p-bass guitar, it is my first 5 string and it is more than i had even hoped for, i recomend this guitar highly.
it is a very fine instrument.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Diamond P-Custom 5 5-String Electric Bass Guitar:
Very nice construction, good hardware, the neck is very nice with a very comfortable nut width and very flat... easy to play, it sort of has an older P-Bass profile (like my old Fender P Bass Elite II).
The pickups are not the same size as the Fender Am. Deluxe Pickups, but they have the same kind of tone that my Am. Deluxe P 4 string has ... (I like)... lifted the pickguard and there isn't much room," would have to route to get a pre amp in there and a battery box on the back... but so far I don't feel the need to go active with this Bass.
Today I switch strings to my brand and do a set up. The action was VERY low ""out 'o the box"" so some adjustments are needed for my style of play.
The one downer is that there was no string retainer on the D & G strings on the headstock (????) so the G string can just pop out of the nut", every picture I've seen had the retainer so this is quite an oversight... I've sent an e-mail to Schecter and I will call them today...... no matter, I'm keeping the Bass... I'll add a retainer myself.(I've already ordered a Fender 5 string retainer... it holds down the G & D & A strings..... I couldn't find the Two string retainer for the E & B yet)
Just finished the string change and setup.... It sounds much better with my strings on it. The P style pickup has a nice double o sound to it , like in Book or look. The bridge pickup has a good solid short a sound to it like in awesome," together they give the best of both blended together. It has the sound and playability that I was hoping for.
All in all I'd give it a 9.6 and a ""good buy""
Bummer #2. The Bass won't fit in my SKB case but it does fit in my Musicians Friend Bass Bag.... I wonder if strap locks will make it too long for the bag ???
The more I play it the more I like it.
Oh Yeah.... seems that the bridge is about 19mm (I'm guessing compared to the Warmoth Takeuchi T5 bridges @ 17.5 mm) so it's wider at the bridge but about the same at the nut as my two Warmoth builds.
After comparing (I have a Am Deluxe P Bass Pickguard) the P Pickup is closer to the the bridge", that may be why it has a tight throatiness that will work with my style of playing.... I have the string guide on and now the A,D & G strings are held down so they cant pop out of the nut. (no response from Schecter about the lack of a string guide... Hmmmmm maybe guitars are more important than Basses to them) I have the strap-locks on and have tried it with my wireless system (it works just fine). Now I just need to have a Band rehearsal or play a gig with it.
Played it at Band rehearsal last night.... we recorded so I went DI into the board.... what a great sounding Bass. Full and throaty, warm and fat., but it still had a nice tight response," all notes clear and defined. It took no time at all to get used to the 35"" scale", the neck is flat and fast. It's very responsive to right hand finger technique. Now I can't wait to get it on stage.
Only what's needed and nothing more
Very well done, fit and finish is great
Lottsa Bass for the buck.
