First of all the one I received was the new model and looks a little different with "dagger" inlays. It looks fantastic. About the bass itself, the finish and quality is superb. The tone is excellent and the pickups allow for a wide range of sounds from jazz to rock to hip hop. The body is pretty light and comfortable, you can play this for a gig and not have any problems. The neck is slim and fast. The action was PERFECT straight from the factory. No other guitar or bass I have ever purchased has been set up so perfect without setting it up myself. I bought this bass thinking it would be cool to practice and jam with, but I will gig with it along with my Fender American J Bass. I will look to Schecter products in the future as well, this is my first time buying anything from them, and I am 100% satisfied.

I bought one a while back, and I loved it. Then it quit working. I sent it back and got a new one, and a couple weeks later, it cut out again. I'm never going to buy a Schecter again. When it did work, it was an amazing bass, but I don't trust them now.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-4 4-String Bass Guitar:

My first Schecter guitar purchase was kind of an accident (a price too good to pass up). This bass purchase was on purpose. I am now a Schecter believer for excellent quality at a very affordable price. A solid and good sounding bass for the money. I play it through a Fender Rumble 30 and use it for Rocksmith. I am a novice and have lost most of my hearing but still have a lot of fun playing in my dreams.

Awesome value for the entry level

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-4 4-String Bass Guitar:

Overall with the economy being what it is. If you are in the market for a bass that has great features for a low price look no further, you have found what you are looking for.
It plays great, sounds great through several different amps(GK, Hartke, Fender, and even a Line 6 POD X3).
From the wood to the finish, right down to the electronics, This is one solid bass that will last a lifetime. Wether you play Standard tuning or Drop D this thing packs a lot of punch, notes are reproduced clear and clean. Playing is effortless due to the smaller neck radius and profile.
I highly recommend this to any beginner or seasoned pro.
Try one for yourself and you won't be disappointed.
Active EQ is superb. The range of tone you can get is priceless. Playing Bass for less than one year and loving every minute of it. Got this Bass to replace a Squire J-bass that I started on. small neck contour allows even small hands to play effortless. The action is that of a much higher priced instrument. It has handled weather extremes very well(from cold dry days -5 last winter to sweltering hot days 102 with 70% humidity) and not lost an ounce of playability.

The only thing I would have liked is a battery door that you do not have to unscrew, not that it is an issue, just would have made changing a battery a bit quicker.

Remember to unplug the guitar cable when not playing to conserve battery life, it is active pick-up after all.
Quality is right up there with other higher end basses. The finish is tough. I have not been gentle with handling as much as I should. Every component is strong and reliable. Could not ask for anything more for the price.

Solid construction, smooth finish and lines. This bass is almost a work of art. The tuning machines don't feel cheesy like some of the other basses in this price range. The bridge is very well constructed also.
The back of the neck has what appears to be a satin finish. Now this may not be a big deal to most, but I found that playability better with a satin finish than a gloss one. Left hand moves faster with less effort than on a gloss finish.
Schecter has done what their name implies. They researched what would make a great value and not be a cheap feeling or sounding instrument. This is not your run of the mill cheap bass. It has the most quality for your hard earned dollar, making it a very exceptional value. This is my mainstay bass if it were to fail due to normal use, I would have to rely on the back up that is loaned to me from a band mate. I don't thankfully have to worry about that being an issue. Would definitely buy another in the future.

            Big Sound, Small price!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-4 4-String Bass Guitar:

This bass is killer, it has all the punch and power you will ever need. The active EQ is neat to, but you have to be sure to turn it off after you are done playing, or it will eat your battery up. Because it's an active EQ, turn the EQ nobs to the left?towards the headstock. I paired my omen up with the GK MB115, the tone is amazing!!! The punch i get is ridiculous, i never thought i'd be able to gig with the MB115, but now i'm pretty sure i'd be just fine. Let me once again say how good and LOUD this bass is. It's great for your runs, and a good value for whaty your getting. This is a bass you could start with and never outgrow. This is one of the reasons why i will never buy another bass unless it's a Schecter. Love it!!!!

Great sound, loud as any other bass, and good on the pocket book. I play through a Galien Kruger MB115, and just the tone and volume i can get are unbelieveable. I would tell anyone who's just statring out, or a seasoned pro to get a schecter bass. I don't believe youi will go wrong. Thanks for knocking it out of the park Schecter.

First, I am a new addition to the Bass Family (was heavy CG prior to this) and have the Omen and a Genz-Benz Combo amp for it. To make it short and sweet, great action and sound... Highvalue for the money and a dream to play. One thing to remember with active pickups is that the battery drains even when disconnected. Remember to turn the volume knob folly CCW (Toward the Head/to the left) or you may find the battery to be DEAD after about two weeks. Am thinking of one of the other models o0f schecter basses for any follow on. I consider them an outstanding bang for the buck!!! BZ Schecter,,,

I have been playing a Fender P-Bass Lyte for 15 years...I pulled this little girl outta the box-(nearly in tune...barely had to adjust the E string), and was amazed.. The action is like silk...the pickups are wayyy hotter than my Fender..(it too is active) I immediately felt faster, and more accurate. This bass has created a whole new me!! This quality for this price cannot be beaten. I would recommend an Omen-4 to not only those who are just getting started, but to veteran bass players of all generes. Thank you Schecter for being so kick &%#!!!!

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-4 4-String Bass Guitar:

The bass is great, aside from when I forget to unplug it and the battery goes dead. I used it for 2 and a half years with no problem, then the treble tone knob started shorting out on me, so I had to get a little rambunctious with it and try to beat it back into playing for me during a couple shows. Probably just from playing it too hard. Sturdy, though... got run over once when in a softcase and it lives to tell the tale with no problems.

This is a good bass for the money but I just can't get that jazz bass growl out of it. It would be a great bass for hard rock and metal but for any other style in this pricerange just go with a fender standard precision or jazz bass.
