OVERVIEW

The right bass at the right price from Schecter.

Schecter's Raiden Special-5 electric bass guitar is the perfect bass for beginners who want to get off on the right foot and for intermediate players who don't want to spend a fortune on their instrument. With quality components and excellent styling, the Raiden Special-5 is a solid investment at a great price.

The Schecter SuperRock Bass is two Jazz pickups in one casing. In two Coil mode the midrange is powerful with a nice punch. When the Push-Pull Tone knob is pulled up the single coil tone is classic with jazzy lows and highs.

The Raiden Special-5 has a quality maple neck. Maple has a uniform grain, it' strong and stable, and it has less reaction from environmental changes than other hardwoods. Its tone is highly reflective, and focuses more energy onto the body wood. Maple transfers a bright tone to the body which complements the warm tones of a mahogany body.

Rosewood is naturally oily and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact, which is why it is the most common wood used in fingerboards. The sound is richer in fundamental than maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.

Schecter bass tuners provide high quality, precision tuning with minimum weight. It has a 17:1 gear ratio allowing for precise fine tuning adjustments, removable knobs, threaded peghead bushing and a 13.6mm diameter peg hole.

The diamond deluxe string thru bridge is a traditional steel plated bridge with increased string travel for extra intonation adjustment and string through body design.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Raiden Special-5 Electric Bass Guitar:

So I like it, I don't regret buying it. I'm a guitar player who wanted to get into the extended range bass stuff and it meets that.

However, it does not tune down well at all (out of the box). If you like to play anything out of B standard, than look somewhere else. I'm going to try and get it set up for a lower tuning. but for the time being it plays well in standard.

ALSO, this is an extra long scale ( 35 in. I believe ). with a string through body. If you want new strings, it is a very slim and expensive pickn's. In my case, because I want to tune pretty low, finding extra long, thick, 5 string bass strings is kind of hard.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Raiden Special-5 Electric Bass Guitar:

I picked up the Schecter Raiden Special 5 to broaden my range in to the low lows and I am very pleased with it after the first month. Been playing bass for many years and have a stable full of heavy hitters. I play in a rock band and this bass gives me every indication that it will hold up among my other basses on the road, it seems well built, durable and I can't identify any weaknesses in the layout (ie knobs aren't located where they will be hit often or 1/4" plug-in isn't in a spot where it will be stressed by live gigs at the local bars.) Great volume from the passive pick-ups and I really like the tone selection options that this bass offers. Pull the trigger on this bass, it's a good looking, good sounding bass that won't strain your back or wallet.
