Riot Deluxe 5 A great Value

By

from Pikeville,, Tn.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Riot Deluxe 5 5-String Electric Bass Guitar:

If you are starting out and want a 5 string bass,, this would be a great place to start.
Out of the box it needed adjustments on the neck and strings. After that, no problem at all.I do prefer a flat wound string over round which came on the bass. I also own a scheter Diamond series guiter.. Also a great value..
For a lower end Price, you can't beat the quality. Good finish, Pick-ups and all around electronics. Love the tone set-up.. This bass is good for all kinds of music..
Amazingly a great deal..

Not bad for a cheap bass

By

from Pahrump, NV

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Riot Deluxe 5 5-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I was looking for a decent inexpensive bass. I had narrowed it down to an SX and a Squire, then I found this bass on clearance and thought I would get a considerably better bass for my money. I'm sure that a set of Rotosounds and a few hours of fixing the problems with this bass will yield a drastic improvement, but the same could be said for the other basses I had considered. For what i paid, I guess I got what I paid for, but if I had paid $349, I'd be ticked-off.
Tusq nut, decent tuners, decent bridge, 24 frets, 6-screw neck. The pickups sound good, and the preamp does what it's supposed to do, but the preamp would be much better with a midrange control.
The bass came with a BAD setup. There's a lot of fret buzz due to the need of a major neck adjustment and bridge adjustment.

The Ernie Ball strings sound awful. I'll definitely order and install Rotosounds before I even do the setup.

The neck finish is VERY rough, like they sprayed it and didn't even touch it with sandpaper, let alone a buffing wheel.

They designed a bass with decent woods and decent parts (looks good in the specs), but their total lack of attention to detail is very disappointing. This bass needs a lot of work to get it up to par.
Since I got the black Riot Deluxe 5 on clearance for less than advertised, I'm giving it a value of 5 out of 10. Honestly, if I had paid much more than that, I'd consider sending it back. For a bass with MSRP of $569 and MAP of $349, I expected much better.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Riot Deluxe 5 5-String Electric Bass Guitar:

This is a quality instrument if you're on a budget. Plays well, sounds great, and ain't too bad looking either. If you need an inexpensive, reliable 5-string to hold down the low end, look no further.
