An affordable signature model inspired by James Johnston.
The James Johnston Jazz Bass guitar puts James's own personal touch on a Squier Classic Vibe series instrument. Based on his Fender USA Jazz Bass, features include Lake Placid Blue finish on a basswood body, vintage-tint gloss-maple neck with matching painted headcap, James' signature on the back of the headstock as well as the Biffy Clyro band logo on the front, 3-ply mint green pickguard, two custom single-coil Jazz Bass pickups, and a HiMass bridge with brass barrel saddles.

Comments about Squier James Johnston Jazz Bass:
Bought this because I wanted some Jazz Bass vibe, and boy did this axe deliver. I'm going to list off the important features:
Fret ends were fantastic out of the factory, and there are no sharp ends;
Nut was cut properly;
Initial setup was decent, leaning towards good. Needed a little work, obviously, but I've seen much worse;
Neck is glossy, vintage-tint. This may throw some people off, but for those who like a thick gloss, you'll be in heaven;
Pickups are nice and growly, and have lots of life. Not something I expected at this price point;
Bridge is solid, and the brass saddles are a nice touch;
Knobs were all solid, not loose at all, and there's no static or choppiness when the knobs are turned. Still, there is some serious on/off effect going on when turning the knob down just slightly;
Headstock finish was spot-on, and there were no parts where the paint bled onto the side of the headstock;
Tuners are solid, and hold tune;
Stock strings are good enough to use for a while. In my case, I order strings online in custom gauges, so it's good to have decent strings to use while they're being delivered.
Overall, I love this. I don't want to sell it, ever (and I've sold a lot of guitars). Planning on adding a tortoise pickguard (for swag), DiMarzio Area J pickups (for noise cancelling), and maybe a brass nut to enhance the, already incredible, sustain.
I highly recommend this. I can't say it enough, if you want a blue Jazz Bass, just BUY IT before they stop making them in the next year or so. Just do it. You won't regret it one bit.
