Got the SKULL as a cheap knock around bass for Jamming, small gigs, etc. I have been playing over 20 years and have some expensive basses (Rickenbackers, Fenders, Ibanez). I had gotten a Squier P-Bass Special several years ago to leave in my car trunk and throw around. I am still shocked at how cool that old P-Bass is, and how great it plays. However, that P-Bass needed a good setup right away, and after about a month, I could not take the Squier Pickups anymore and put in a set of EMG P-J's. But the SKULL was setup great out of the box, and the pickups seem to sound just fine! Using that old P-Bass Special with the P-J pickup configuration showed me how that setup gives a total tonal variety... so I was pretty stoked on getting the SKULL with the same pickup config. They do sound great out of the box. The neck is fast and there are no rough fret edges on the side of the neck (a typical problem on Mex Fenders). This is one decent bass for a very cheapo price. I would recommend it for any beginning or intermediate player, as well as for any pro that is looking for a great knock around bass for jamming. I have played many basses at three times the price that are not as good. Finally, the SKULL graphic on the body, and the SKULL inlay on the neck seal the deal. Just buy it!!!

I've been a bassist for 7 years. I planned on using this bass for half a set at one of my bands shows and once I plugged it in I switched basses almost instantly. I could not hear the bass over drums or guitar. The wood is light, and the pick ups just don't cut it. Once I plugged in my Fender J-Bass I heard everything clear as day. I wouldn't buy this bass, unless it was someones first and to be used for practice, definitely not for playing gigs.

This bass is amazing.. I've Owned mine for 5 years.. I wouldn't play anything else.. The only con is that its got the squire name one it.. You would have to be out of your mind not to own this...
All I have to say is this is an awesome bass. I've only had it a month now, but nothing has gone wrong yet. It sounds great, and I rarely have to tune it. The only thing is the pick-ups can get in the way when I play very fast.Overall it is and awesome bass for an awesome price. Not to mention the skull graphic.
i've had this bass for about 3 weeks now and it is pretty great for me because i am a beginner. i dont know about the better players out there but if your just starting out i definatly reccomend this bass
I just recently purchased this bass and it is a great value. It's rather good quality, but you might want some new strings after you buy it. Everyone was telling me "Get and Ibanez or a Rogue!" I knew some friends who had them and I played them. Let me tell you honestly, those do not even stack up close to this bass's performance. The price is outstanding. You won't be disapointed. The graphics look really cool. I say go for it, especially if you're on a budget but you still want a good value.
i bought this bass 3 weeks ago and i already love it. its got probably the best sound you could get out of a bass for that price. not to mention it looks great to.
This bass is one of the best available on the market. Don't let the price tag fool you for a second. What a fool you would be if you let this go. The only problems with the Squier MB4 Skulls is that it's a Squier, and the pickups are stale. Other than that, it kicks heads.
I played this at my buddies house, his younger brother actually picked it up. It's an unbelievable bass, awesome play, easy to move, easy to play.
I've been playing guitar for a couple of years, but I thought it would be interesting to pick up a bass and see how I liked it. I am very happy with my bass, and it looks awesome. I think this is a great bass if all you're going to do is mess around with it like me, because playing regular guitar is my thing. I'm not so sure if this is that great for gigging, but my amp is crappy so I really don't know. But it's still a great first bass.
I think this bass is awsome. I play on alot of stages and I hear alot of complments on this bass. If you want a wicked loking bass with great sound buy this bass. Also, it's not that much.
Wow, I love the graphic..It's what attracted me to the guitar. The qaulity is really good, and it plays GREAT...It's light weight, so I don't feel trapped playing it...I can fly on this thing, great guitar, great sound, great luck, I give it thumbs UP!
This bass own I just got it in 2 weeks. I recommend it to anybody young and old people.
This is a very good bass. I got it for Christmas this year and it is awesome! I also got a zoom pedal so it soundds even better. The only bad thing I would have to say is that it has a little buzz but not too bad. I like the sound of the buzzing on it because it sounds more metallic. I love it!
Bought this bass to have an inexpensive 4 string to pratice on and to go along with my Cort 5 string and Fender 4 string. Out of the box had a miserable buzz on the first three frets of the D and G strings. Sat down and made a massive adjustment and the bass plays and sounds great. I actually prefer it over the Cort. If you can adjust an instrument then spend the money on this bass. Trust me, it can sound awesome.
Iv been playing for about a 2 years and i started with this bass. its really good for beginers the only thing is you should change out the strings and its not very loud which is good for playing at home but i use a different bass when playing gigs.
I just went and bought this bass today at a local downtown shop because I didn't have enough money for a more expensive bass...I saw this plugged it in at the store and played it...this bass has insane sound and crazy action for a squire and its as light as a feather so its gr8 for my bass flips and jumping around.
This was my first bass and ive had this bass since about april and since then I've progressed so much in just a few months. This bass allows you to play any kind of music w/zero or minimal adjustment. Not to mention the price is great for a begginner looking to buy a great sounding bass with not a lot of money to throw out. 10's all the way. Definetly a KICKIN! BASS!!!
This bass is a great deal for someone that wants and nice quality, good sounding bass for a cheap and affordable price.
Slick Bass. For the bucks you won't find a gutsier axe out there. Put new strings on it immediately. I've played it on a pretty wide array of amps and and it always sounds great. Great for Heavy Metal/grunge/rock. One of the reviews above mine said it best, "It's a TANK" One thing you can't see in the photo is the silver metal flake affect in the paint. I also don't feel like I've been breaking rocks all day when I put it down. Really light weight. You may have to tweak the knobs a bit to get your affect, but trust me it's there. I've been playing since 1976 and I've never seen a bass for this price that packs a punch like this one. Man just buy it..it gets the job done just fine in my opinion.
I don't normally go for Squire, but this one was my back up for the one I wanted. It sounds PAR at best, the wood is way to light though. I would reccommand for people who are just starting to learn bass, but if you've been playing bass for a while, you'll be very dissapointed.
The action is low and easily playable-this is coming from someone who is more guitarist than bassist. The 3 tone knobs let you get a wide variety of sounds from one bass. The sound of the bass itself is impressive, despite the light weight of the instrument. And of course, the appearance is baaaad. I put mine in a coffin case to complete the appearance. It's like the Grim Reaper showing up for practice.
