No regrets

Features:
I bought a used fretless and saved a few bucks. The person before me had changed the strings to Flat wounds and had raised the bridged to the max. The neck was bowed real bad too. After some badly needed adjustments it now plays perfect. It's a great sounding bass and I love it.
It takes a bit more than a desire to play a fretless. Due to a back order status for this particular model I have no doubt that there will be more used fretless basses for sale soon. If you are smart snag one. I have no regrets.

Hoped for Better

Features:

It is a basic instrument, standard Squier features.

Quality:

This thing really isn't useable.  I played one a while back which is why I made the decision to buy this one and this one is hopefully defective because it is bad...  Brand new and the knobs make a tremendous amount of noise when being turned.  Tuning is impossible and the neck is bent to a degree that I've never seen in a bass.  The instrument also has tons of electronic buzz.  I am new to fretless so I wanted something cheaper to start = mistake, just get the real thing.

So, this is getting returned.  $300 isn't expensive but it should at least be functional.  I expected a lot better.  I guess these were okay when they first came out but they are not worth free right now.  I should have saved my money and just bought the real Fender.

Value:

The current edition is not worth anything do not buy it.

Overall:

Stay away from this product...  There are a lot of bad harmonics that make the instrument sound like it has a heavy chorus on all the time, is that supposed to be a feature because I call that something wrong.  That is okay sometimes but what if you want to turn it off.  Not possible with this instrument.

Pretty good but mine didn't have frets...

Features:

Overall the features were pretty good, despite a little wobble in the plug. But for some reason mine didn't have frets? It's probably because it was made in Indonesia, but its cool.

Quality:

made. in. indonesia.

Value:

It is worth the 300 bucks you have to pay, but honestly, for that much I expect frets.

Overall:

This is a solid bass for any player who wants a bass to slap.. without frets

Incredible !

Overall:

Better than I'd expected. My 1st fretless. VERY playable "right out of the box". I'm still getting used to the shallow / thin neck, I've been playing Epiphone & Gibsons forever. Nice change of pace. Lighter and contoured for comfort. Fit and finish/ quility control very good. The electronics work well. The fretlines are an excellent idea. The photos colors online are off a bit, too sedate almost brown. MUCH nicer coloration (gold-yellow to dark / black edging) in reality. Flat wounds are probably the only change needed. For those that think ANY modifications are required because it's a Squire, "get over yourself", play this bass and let the music speak for you!

I've been playing bass for many years, this one will stay with me for many more!

PS- GOD plays bass too- you'll hear His subs in thunder storms- AWESOME!

Squier VM Jazz Fretless

Overall:

I'm not a bass player by trade, but I have gigged as a sub on a fretted instrument (my Squire P/J).  I bought this because it was on sale, had fret markers, and just wanted to see if my ear could handle the intonation demands of a fretless (not to shabby so far!). To my ear the SD pickups are clear and punchy with plenty of presence. Nut is set high, which leads me to think it was plunked in at fretted height. Makes me think they had a bunch of fret-cut Ebonol fretboards that were minor blems and that's how this guitar came to be.

But no matter. It's got a real purdy finish, and you can definitely mwah like Jaco for not too many $$$.
