Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special Humbucker:
This bass right out of the box was worth the small pricetag. The pickup lacks a little low end pop, but gives the funky bass twang I wanted. Being as close to the bridge as the pickup is, I expected worse. As others said, it needed a lot of setup so if you are not comfortable doing this, find a shop to set it up or buy from a store that does it for you. My only complaints are fret buzz and sharp fret wire. I was able to file the wire edges and tweak the neck and action and resolve the problems. I have since added a second DiMarzio DP120 pickup by the neck with a blender pot so the two pickups are going into the active electronics, and this gives options to get what ever bass sound I want. Would have given it five stars if not for the fret wire, but I am thinking of buying another for my Son's band to have as a spare, The bassist sometimes doesn't know in advance when he is in town.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special Humbucker:
Definitely a Kiler Bass for the price! Had a few finish flaws and was in need of setup(like most inexpensive instruments) but for the price I could live with them. With the active circuitry it would be extremely easy to add an EMG.
Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special Humbucker:
I love this guitar. I like the sound, the look, everything. It's not heavy at all, which is great for females with little arm strength like me. However, the frets are pretty huge, which makes skipping around quickly a little difficult if you have tiny fingers.
I think this guitar is great for the price--she looks classy, feels great, sounds lovely, and isn't difficult to play.
Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special Humbucker:
You cannot beat this bass for the price.
Active pickup on a entry level bass, priced just right.
Well put together, solid bass. Some fit and finish issues with sharp fret edges and mine has a screw drilled in at an angle, allowing the head to protrude unevenly above my pickguard.
Great looks, solid bass, active electronics, great sounding.
Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special Humbucker:
Overall is a good bass but like I said before, not too good for slaping and popping for my taste because sound a little muddy.
Give 8 in features because I will continue to make critic that the vintage bridge of some kind of fenders and squier is trash. Pure trash. Other inenspensive basses like Rogues and Peaveys came with better bridge and in some cases with the string thru body feature that add a lot of sustain. I replaced the bridge with a Gotoh the same day I opened the box. Now look better and have huge sustain. Other than that the bass looks good.
Came with the pickup a little bit twisted (I don't know why but I fixed) and I find that the acction was high for my taste. Changed the strings for a D'Addario Pro Steel and now sound better with the adition of the new bridge and some settings. Paint job is good and the neck feels fantastic. Electronic is great but please read carefuly this: I owned in the past more than 25 basses because I buy, fix, sell so I know what is a good and versatile bass. This bass have a fantastic sound. It remind me my old Ernie Ball SUB musicman. Lot of treble and very punchy sound for fingerin. But carefull because this bass doesn't sound too good for slap. With some good setting in your amp it can sound much better. Maybe, but is hard to find that clasic sound for slap and pop. The best way that I can describe the sound of this bass is like a John Taylor of Duran Duran sound. If you are planing to buy this bass, take time to check some of the Duran Duran old music like Rio and Girls on Film. In some parts of those songs you will here the slap sound of his Aria Pro bass. That is the sound that you will get from this bass. For me is OK but maybe I will change the pickup for a pickup that can change from paralell to series mode and can fix the sound for slap but for the moment It makes the job.
For $199 is a good chance especialy for those who love the fingerin sound of Duran Duran and some Red Hot Chili Peppers songs especially in the "Californication" record sound.
Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special Humbucker:
I'm amazed at how LOUD this bass is. I was in the market for a far-pricier bass, and wound up with this. It actually had more punch than the Marcus Miller [FENDER version too!].
I would say to test your pickup to make sure it's not distorting, but usually when that happens it's your battery. I thought the pickup was really fuzzy, but when I took a closer examination with the volume off it actually was the E string with a weird natural buzz going on [NO it was not fret buzz, it was actually the string doing it, the neck was actually set up properly].
Did I mention that new Squiers have Two way truss rods? That's cool, even some Peavey products don't have that. These, like Strats, are very adjustable.
Good job, Squier.
Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special Humbucker:
For some reason I was really excited waiting for this to hit stores; it seemed like a really cool idea and you really can't beat the value. I think I found the first one in Fla and have had it for a month or so. Once again it is a really good value and would more than suffice as a first bass or a back-up at a gig. Problem is that is lacks that Fender/(and most recent Squiers)tone. Its a little tinny, even with the humbucker. Quality control is good, fit and finish also. So if you're curious or need a back-up bass you wouldn't have to worry too much about my suggestion would be to go for it. I'm definitely not sorry I bought it, it just doesn't have that classic Fender tone like my Geddy Lee, Fender Jaguar, or even my Classic vibe precision.
Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Electric Bass Guitar Special Humbucker:
I found this bass to be pretty disappointing. Squier's been doing a great job with their vintage lines but this just felt aweful to me and I wasn't a big fan of the sound
