Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass Guitar:

Great bass right out of the box, once you've tuned up that is. I see a lot of comments about strring buzz, mine had a high action right out of the box, which I don't mind at all. Great for any style of music. Solid bass, good weight, I've played heavier basses, and this one is great.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass Guitar:

I wanted a Jazz Bass to gig with. So I compared the Vintage Modified line and MIM Jazz basses. Honestly the overall quality of this bass put the MIM to shame. I spent a little extra and put a heavier bridge, some real Fender knobs, and a Fender bridge cover on it just to dress it up a bit. This bass is quickly becoming one of my favorites, and for the price point it leaves you with enough money left over to do some customizing.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass Guitar:

I had to do all the set up. The pick ups were touching the strings, the bridge had to be adjusted, the neck had to be adjusted to stop the buzz, there was no wrench for the truss rod. Once the set up was done I was completely happy with the feel and tone.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass Guitar:

Played ok out the box but needed some work. Needed truss rod tighting, intonation adjustment, lowered string action and pick-up height adjustment.

The crome input jack cover was a little scratched.

At 15 pounds, this bass is kinda heavy. I wish the weight of the instruments were indicated.
My Mexican JBass from about 10 years ago was lighter (poplar) instead of this basswood (whatever that is) bass.
Played a few gigs with it; no problems.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass Guitar:

I've never really been a Fender/Squier kind of person, really prefer the more modern, hi-fi bass sounds. That being said, I really wanted something to get those old school sounds and at the same time not kill my wallet. I tried a lot of different J, P, and P/J basses, and decided on this one. It's very versatile, as a J bass should be. It's fully capable of a plethora of sounds, and they all sound great. No, it doesn't match the American Standard line, but it (in my opinion and many others on forums) surpasses the MIM Standard J bass. For the price point, you can't beat it for a great J bass experience, and that's why I gave it a 5 star rating. Is it the best bass EVER?! No, but it's very good, especially with that price tag. I'm very impressed, and am sticking to this bass as my main player.

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass Guitar:

Pretty and substantial. This does feel comparable to the American-made counterpart. One of the knobs is a bit gritty when turned. Setup out of box was not perfect, but a few minutes with the included allen wrenches and all was well. Sounds great over a wide range of music. Can be very mellow or slappy/snappy. For the money it's an excellent deal. I played last night through a Fender Rumble amp and everyone loved the sound. Does what you need unless you need something extraordinary. It's heavier than my P-bass. Doesn't come with a gig bag, so prepare to buy a case or bag for transport. Comes shipped with minimal packing, so give it a good once or twice over when it arrives. UPS handled mine a bit roughly, but the instument seems to have survived unscathed.

        Squire Jazz Bass

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass Guitar:

This bass is awesome. I really don't know how people can justify buying expensive American made instruments anymore, do yourseld a favor, check out the Squire and or Epiphone brands. It simply doesn't make sense to spend four times more for an instrument made in the U.S. just because a "craftsman" spends an additional 30 minutes in front of a buffing wheel. All parts are CNC machined anyway..no matter where the instrument is made.
For all intents and purposes, this is a real Jazz Bass..Squire or not.You couldn't ask for a better tone with the Duncan pups..they sound nice and wet, and clear. The neck is straight and the action is low, without rattling or buzz.
The fret job is top notch, the fit and finish are perfect.
I really don't know why anyone would feel the need to purchase the US / Fender or even the MIM version of this bass, the Squire has it all.

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass Guitar:

this bass is amazing! took it out of the box and played it and it sounded great! i couldnt hear the difference between this and a fender. only problems- strings arent great, and the knobs(it may just be mine) are a little wobbly, but it isnt that bad at all. this bass would be great for a beginner or even some who just doesnt want to spend thsat much. and might i add it looks sexy

        My new main bass!

        By Fregononom

        from College Station, TX

Comments about Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass Guitar:

I had recently bought this bass a week ago,and I must say it is the absolute bomb. I've played regular Fenders, MIM Fenders, and I used to think Squier...well, wasn't that good. Now that i've played this, "Squier" is just a name now. The tone is nice and deep when slapped, fingerstyle's nice and growly (henceforth I call this bass the Tiger), and it's comfortable to play. My only complaint is the strings it came with, but the setup was spot on, and the action was nice and comfortable. For the price and the reputation of a newfound sense of quality, I am a new Fender/ Squier fan (Before I fingered an Ibanez GSR200- this blows it away)!
