Comments about Steinberger Spirit XT-2DB Standard Bass with DB-Tuner:

I have hours upon hours on this bass, I own 2 other basses but they don't see much use anymore. I replaced the strings with D'Addario ENR70 Half Round Bass Guitar Strings, Super Light, 40-95, Long Scale, They are easier on the frets being pure nickel. The stainless strings that come on it stock will wear one the frets after 2-3 years. I of course had to put a single ball string adapter on it you can find on the internet.

Comments about Steinberger Spirit XT-2DB Standard Bass with DB-Tuner:

I bought one of these basses a year ago cause I got a full time gig and, having had serious back problems, needed the lightest bass money could buy. Now it has become my go-to bass whenever I practice or play shows. This little bass is simply amazing. We play a very wide variety of music at our shows and the Steinberger has rendered the rest of my 12 basses obsolete. Its the only bass I own that I can set up the action and intonation on in a matter of minuets. The neck through design is ultra stable and resonates beautifully. The EMG pickups are as versatile as they come and between my bass rig and my pedals I can get every sound I could ever want. The DB tuner has eliminated my need for my 5 string basses and really the only other axe I use onstage is an 8 string dual octave bass for slow songs that need more depth as we are a 3 piece band with a singer and no rhythm guitarist. Don't believe the reviews about this bass being only good for midrange cause if you swap out the stock medium light strings for a set of Rotosound mediums the "tinny midrange" quality disappears. Just be prepared to adjust the neck a little cause the heavier strings did put a slight bow in the neck and raised the action a bit and required a minor tweak of the truss rod to fix. The only problem I had was that the bridge was hard to use during tuning and felt gritty and then the DB tuner just quit working and locked up. One call to their support (Gibson USA as it turns out) got the ball rolling for a warranty repair and the bass was back in my hands 3 weeks later with a new bridge that works perfectly. The gritty feeling is gone and the tuning is now smooth as glass and ,actually, I rarely have to tune it at all. As for the DB tuner I set it for drop D and its stayed spot on for months now. I really can't say enough good things about this guitar. I also own Fender, G&L, Epiphone, Warwick, Dean and several other big name guitars and I've been a semi-pro musician for almost 30 years with 25 of em on the bass, so I'm not speaking from the viewpoint of an inexperienced newbie when I tell you how awesome this bass really is. To those of you that are "in the know" and familiar with Ned Steinberger and the quality of innovation and workmanship he puts into his designs you will not be surprised or disappointed. If you are not then this is a fantastic starting point to get familiar with him and the perfection of his instruments cause they are exactly that. Perfect.

    Though mid-ranged, very good

Comments about Steinberger Spirit XT-2DB Standard Bass with DB-Tuner:

Its a pretty good bass. I will only make one complaint, its very midranged and dosen't have the options of some of the other basses out there. Its has some pretty nifty tones if you play with the knobs and things. I think that its a good value because the bass is pretty nice to use. Its a good bass, and I cannot complain. Saving up for one right now, almost there.
