Exotic figured wood meets up with out-of-control style and tone!
The Phoenix Custom 5 matches in-your-face sound with fiery style for a bass that excels for heavy music styles. That great sound comes from Seymour Duncan Bassline pickups, Duncan electronics, and a custom big Traben bridge. The Custom 5 gets its hot look from the flame-inspired bridge, quilted maple top, and a two-tone flame inlay that blazes across the rosewood fingerboard.
Traben's unique philosophy for building electric basses centers around their large bridges for bigger, badder tone. These bigger bridges are designed to have more mass and more bridge-to-body contact for added resonance in the body.

This is easily the best bass I have ver played. I just got it I cannot put it down. The preamp with the pickups give the best tone I have heard from any bass in this price range, or any price range, for that matter. The large bridge gives the best sustain you can find. The neck is extreamly fast and the fretts are the perfect size to move around on. There is little to no fret buzz, so long as you play it well. I have it in blood red. If you take a look at the pheonix regular, you will get a taste of how this baby looks. And it looks even better in person. It is the best looking bass I have ever seen, and the best bass I have ever played. Look no where else for the best professional quality bass you can find.
The quality of the Trabens I've played is incredible. The fretwork on this bass is outstanding. No deadspots. I love the Aguilar preamp. I put some new strings on it and after that I was in slapbass heaven. I own 2 Warwicks, a Yamaha 3000ma, Lakland 55-94, Zon Sonus etc. I own a truckload of basses. I LOVE THIS BASS.... if you're looking for something different with some great sounds this is your bass. Sounds great and plays about as good as any bass I've ever played.
It's a real disappointment that this line got discontinued. Personally, I love this bass. The pickups have amazing response, you can turn it up as loud as it goes with no feedback, even near electronic devices that would usually drown you in noise, and my active pickups have been going for 2 years on the same battery.
