Comments about Traveler Guitar TB-4P Electric Bass Travel Guitar:
I was a little unsure and thought this purchase over for a while. There was none available at the nearest big name Guitar shop (over 90 miles away) to try out so I made a leap of faith.
I already own a Traveler Electruc (old style with piezio pickup in the bridge) and it has by now accumulated enough airline miles and hotel points to take an extended vacation in Fiji!
I am glad I did. A fullsize bass takes up a fair amount of room and since i travel a lot, a small footprint fullscale instrument is preferable - I've had too many bad exeriences with airlines and instruments.
The playability is great - action feels good, and even for a bass is light.
The only weak points I have found so far is the pickups sound a little thready and the built in headphone amp is weak.
If only I could find a portable bass amp comparable to my Honeytone.....

Over all it feels good but there are two flaws:
1. Strings are set too high.. You will be adjusting ir
T for a while but once set, it feels great
2. Expensive for a bass made in china..
The on-board amp works great! No distortion noticed even during heavy string plucking
Paint was buffed off on the strind roller area... You can't realy see it unless you are looking for it though
It sounds and plays like the bigger brothers! The bag is very compact and airport friendly.

General impression: This little bass is light and it doesn't hurt my back. I love being able to plug in headphones and just play. Really looking forward to our first camping trip later this month and seeing how this does on the road. So far I'm really happy with it.
Well, the first thing I did was replace the strings with Elixers and it sounds much better to me--it was a bit challenging to restring. I noticed the tone control seems to respond differently when plugged in with headphones then when it's going through an amp--but that isn't too big a surprise. It's a 1 pick up bass and I'd really prefer 2, but there's only so much that will fit in this small space. It could use a thumb rest--if I'm not careful I find myself with my thumb on the tuners--oops.
Good tuners, but not quite the same level as my Ibanez Soundgear SR500 or Schecter Studio 4 fretless... it took about twice as long for the strings to set up after installation. The pots are clean. There's no noise when using the headphones. The strap buttons are placed well for balance so there's no issue with the bass taking a neck dive when standing up with a strap. The finish is really nice--love the sunburst !
It's a lot of $$$ but this little thing works for me both at home with the headphones--really great for practice ! and when I play at church through my GK rig and the house PA it sounds good ! Considering how it works as a dual purpose practice & gig instrument it's quite nice
