I got this bass somewhere else because it was sold out here. It was wondeerful. First thing I noticed was the constant flow of dying 9-volts. I emailed Yamaha about this and they told me how to fix it. The two ground wires on the output jack need to be switched since they have the battery on the permanent ground. Fixing it wasn't hard, but email Yamaha about it and they should give you a PDF file that gives you the intructions on what to do. As long as you can solder, you can do this. Back to the bass... It's got great sound and a nice feel for the price. It's worth every penny once you get it fixed.

Im starting to think this isnt the same bass ive got at home. I dont no if mine is somehow completly different, but the sound is terrible and i cant find oone good setting with any combinations of knobs. The neck feels awful too and any way the action is set is bad. The battery life is terrible and after a solid hour of jamming it needs to be changed. I wanted to get new pickups but the size is really wierd to and nothing fits the holes, and even if it did the string spacing wouldnt allow for any replacements. All in all its a somewhat good starter, but after a year of playing a recommend getting a jazz or p bass. This bass didnt do me any good

Comments about Yamaha RBX374 Electric Bass Guitar:
Decided to pick up the bass after wanting to for years. Tried a few cheaper ones, they had alot of fret buzz and simply felt cheap. This bass looks great and sounds really good too (even if I don't). It came out of the box well set up, just had to adjust a bridge a bit to get a tighter feel.

Comments about Yamaha RBX374 Electric Bass Guitar:
Can't believe a bass this inexpensive looks, feels and sounds so good. I just wanted a little 4 string for outdoor hazardous duty to save my high dollar basses, but now I am finding myself using it instead of the others. My favorite thing is the little thumb rest molded into each pickup - handy and smart design. You can't possibly beat this for the price.
My favorite thing is the little thumb rest molded into each pickup - handy and smart design. Strings are straight at the headstock, not at an angle which improves tone and tuning duration. Nice tuners, hot pickups and a fast, thin neck.
For a bass in this price range, I don't think you are going to find higher quality. Yamaha has impressed me with all of its product lines. Their sound boards, monitors, guitars, basses - you name it, they are all of highest quality.
None better

Comments about Yamaha RBX374 Electric Bass Guitar:
I bought one of these used at my local music store for when I go to university. I already own an Ibanez GSR200, which I adore, and a Fender Jaguar bass which is great, but this easily beats both. For an average-priced bass, it plays better, in my opinion, than my Jaguar, and has a much wider range of sound, from growling lows to a more vintage, higher pitched sound. While this was a steal used, it is definitely worth the new price and then some. The only issue is, as I have seen mentioned before, the active pickups. They eat batteries for breakfast. That said, if you take the battery out if you aren't going to be using it for a while, it does wonders for their life. I can't judge the battery box as mine already has snapped off, but I would suggest looking into a replacement, as I am.In short, a great bass that sounds fantastic and looks sweet, especially in red.

I bought this bass in a music store after trying out all of the ones available. This one hands down had the best sound and best "feel" to it. It just seems to fit right. I'm currently using a old, secondhand Silverstone amp, but the sound is still perfect. The neck feels so smooth and natural, and my right thumb rests perfectly on the pickups. My one major complaint is with the active pickup. After leaving the battery in for three weeks, the bass would no longer play. Changing the battery fixed this. Since I wanted to make a single nine volt battery last more than a month, I started taking the battery out whenever I wasn't playing. This led to the original battery snap-on breaking off, so I had to solder a new one on, and as an improvement I included a switch. The construction and design of the batter setup leave me cold. They just reek 'cheap'. Don't get me wrong, I love this bass to death, but I just wish Yamaha had put a little more care into this very vulnerable system.
Comments about Yamaha RBX374 Electric Bass Guitar:
This is my first and only bass guitar and I love it. I've had it for almost two years and the only problem was the battery finally gave out-no biggie. I have spruced it up with Black Beauties and a studded strap+strap locks (all of which from Musicians Friend). Mine was slightly damaged when I got it because there were cosmetic flaws during shipping to the store and the nice discount got me sold. Those flaws actually make me love it more- it makes a nice vintage look.
Comments about Yamaha RBX374 Electric Bass Guitar:
To all of those who hate on Yamaha because of their school band reputation, think again. Where you see a crap band instrument brand, I see a brand that made basses for so many good bassists, including Billy Sheehan. While this is no Sheehan Attitude 4, it definitely sounds and plays very nice for its price. I payed more for my Sammick Cobra Bass. While I have no problem with the sound of my Cobra, there is no doubt in my mind that the neck plays much faster. I love it. I honestly for once am proud to say I own a Yamaha instrument.
Comments about Yamaha RBX374 Electric Bass Guitar:
Great bass, feels good nice humbucker roar and very responsive.I have this bass for a few months and I've put my ibanez and fender basses aside.Really i've never felt anything like it and despite what other people say mine isn't scratched in a bit.Only downside is that you have to change your battery every now and then.
Comments about Yamaha RBX374 Electric Bass Guitar:
Its a pretty sweet bass overall. Pretty good tonal Variety. Has a very nice sound when distorted. The bridge may need adjusting, as mine did. If you buy this I would recommend getting it in black. If you don't mind the bridge though, you should get a Traben array. I would also suggest many Ibanez's over this for the price range. Still an overall good bass.
