Due to a hard to replace broken key on my current bass, my friend was kind enough to lend me his guitar to use in the mean time. While this bass looks nice, I've found that its tone is everything but. During practice I found myself repeatedly adjusting the equalizer to try to find something that works for me. I was never able to get it. The pickups look impressive, but they transmit too much fret buzz. The battery for the active pickups has an easy access cover, which is cool. The looks are nice and the color scheme perfect. But I've found that it simply doesn't have hardly any sustain. Hit a string and you?re left wondering where the sound went. The neck seems short to me, but I'm 6'. I'm not at all impressed by it, but I won?t tell my friend that. I?d rather be playing a no-name guitar I used to play. I'd recommend an ESP F series.

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

To wrap it up, this bass will give you the top features necessary to provide almost any style of play that an active player wants. The pickup blending and eq boost/cut are from the god's of rock just for our enjoyment! Buy it!!
By far the best 5 string for less than $400 out there. The tones this ax will reward you with are infinite! Love the thumb cut outs on the pups.
I bought the blk one to start with, but sent it back for the red one which is stunning. Slight neck adj and 3 frets to level and Wow what a ride. Everything seems to be solid and attention to detail is apparent everywhere. Stays in tune ok with stock strings.
I only gave a 9 for total value as no gig bag came with it. Thats the only point I can take away.

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

This bass has excellent action, and the set up was perfect out of the box. More importantly the bass is very quiet, has lots of gain and a very wide and useful set of tone and balance capabilities.

I've had several good friends with a lot of experience compare this bass to much more expensive insruments and their comments are consistently positive. This is an excellent bass by any standard. At this price point, it is an outstanding instrument.

The finish is a flat silver which is a bit unusual. Everyone seems to like the finish as it does not show fingerprints, appears very durable and has a professional, understated look.

        Highly recommended.

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

I've been playing on this bass for about 2 years now and it has always sounded AMAZING! It does go through batteries fast, but I bought a couple rechargeables and they last 2-3 times as long as regular 9v's then you recharge them and they are like new! I've only had 1 problem with it, the wires on the 9v snap connectors have broke a couple times, not hard to fix but kinda a pain in the butt.

I've recently purchased this bass and immediately used it on a gig..One word..MONSTROUS..it has a great punch and definition that cuts thru in the mix, my color is black and a funny thing is that they say the fingerboard is rosewood, mine looks like ebony..my only gripe is that the battery cover look like it's very easy to break when changing the battery, be careful..All in all this bass rocks.

A Great Bass For The Price

        By Victrobassist

        from Australia

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

I bought this bass about a week ago and i couldnt be happier with it. It is my first 5 string and i found it took no time to adjust to the extra string etc. It is really comfortable to play and it sits nicely when you stand up with it. The pickups are nice and loud and they offer a really large amout of tonal range. It took me about 20 minutes of fidling with my amp and the bass to find the tone i want, which isnt very long considering i was still looking for the right tone through my esp B-50. The finissh is really nice and the satin black neck feels beautiful but it can become a tad grippy if your hand becomes sweaty. The neck is fairly fast and easy to play. I found myself playing better on this bass within 5 minutes compared to my other bass. All in all this is definately the best bass i could find for the price and i'd recomend this to anyone looking for a good 5 string to make the step from 4 to 5.

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

I've had mine for well over a year now and it's still cherry. It plays fast and sounds excellent doing it. No matter what style I'm jamming with at the moment this bass always delivers. My only gripe is that it goes through batteries quickly. I have to replace it every other week when playing regularly. Though, I don't have any prior experience with basses that have active electronics. I don't mind springing for the batteries though cause it doesn't let me down.

        Awesome Bass

        By Anonymous

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

I bought this bass because I read tons of great reviews on it. Now I've had it for about 9 months and I absolutely love it. It's easily the best bass I've heard and with a little tweak of the levels, it will be ready for any style of music you want to play from heavy metal to jazz to anything really. If you're looking for a good 5-string bass, buy this one. The neck is of course wider than normal 4-strings but it feels great and plays very well.

Getting to the facts!!! This bass is bar none for the price a great deal, like any new bass you get I would recommend getting a local music store to set it up for you if you are a begginer.
New Strings and and having it ajusted is a wise choice, though out of the box it was ok.

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

I received this bass for Christmas of 2004...boy was I surpised. I originally looked at Yamaha basses because John Myung uses them, and the same series. The tone is unbelievable; leaving the blend knob at the treble end and then having the bass and treble knobs opposite can produce either twangy Geddy Lee tones to bassy jazz tones. The action on this thing is great. You can perform bends on this bass where Fenders leave you in the dark. In fact, the action is so low that tapping is hard. The only problems I have with this bass are cosmetic. The black paint on the maple neck scratches right off, and some was missing before I even played it. Also, the finish around the humbucking pickups is applied badly.

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

I've owned this bass for about a year now and overall, it's a great bass. It has a wide tonal range, and feels great on stage. Only thing is it is a little heavy and the neck gets a bit sticky after a few songs. I'm sure I could sand it down, but i don't want to ruin the beautiful finish. One thing for sure is that this bass has great looks. i started playing a sorta heavy metal style, which this bass is good for, but as i progressed musically, i started to play a more jazzy/rush style with a lot of melodic runs and harmonies. the neck was just too think and the frets too far apart, but what 5 string isn't. i play with my figers, but i broke my finger and had to play with a pick, and this bass was great for both uses. i've gotten away from the style that this bass was intended for, but for a heavy rocking bass player, this bass is a great instrument for a great price

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

I have no idea why this bass doesn't sell like crazy. Sharp looks, active EQ, nice action, 24 frets, fast neck... it has everything.Unlike a lot of basses I've tried, this one actually has a huge tonal range. You can really adjust the tone you get with the active EQ unlike a lot of similar basses (Ibanez basses always seem to have too many mid and treble tones, no matter how much you adjust them). With this, I was able to cut them out and get a huge, thumping bass tone, even with roundwound strings!Pretty much any Yamaha product you buy will give you huge value for your money. This thing deserves 11 stars for value, because it can compete with much more expensive basses.

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

Alright this is my 3rd bass and my 1st 5 string and as soon as I picked it up I knew it had potential. You can acheive a variaty of sounds with the knobs on the bass (and I would know about sounds I have a Zoom B2.1u) that all are of great quality. The thumb divets in the pickups are amazing to have and the overall appeal of the bass is cool. Although the bass is a bit heavy...well hey it is a 5 string...it is definatly playable.

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

I've had it for about 1 1/2 year now. And it's a good thing I do custom work on guitars, otherwise I would have gone broke paying people to fix the things I had to do myself. First things I did, shave off the paper thin black paint on the back of the neck to reveal the beautiful hard rock maple neck. Change to POS strings. Rewire the input jack(yes,Yamaha wired it wrong). And lower the bridge. As far as tones you get, I am very picky, might just be me. But I feel very limited. I love the humbucker pickups in here though. If the bass didn't have those, I would use this guitar as a smashing guitar in shows. Good bass for the price, but spend the extra cash and get a fender, or musicman, you will not regret it.

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

I love the humbucker pickups. Excellent tone. It produces clear, acoustic-like tones, as well as deep, powerful low tones. I had considered buying a custom bass by Carvin for $1200+ made to my own specifications. Upon playing the RBX375, I've scrapped that idea. I'm more than satisfied.

Comments about Yamaha RBX375 5-String Bass Guitar:

This is a great "first" 5 string. It made the transition from 4-5 strings easty. It plays great and stays in tune very well. For the price of the instrument you get a good tone out of the low B. I would have liked better tuners and strap buttons but overall love it.
