The Barrington line of instruments was developed to offer the student musician an instrument that offers an excellent start to their music career, yet is priced at a point that makes it available for most families. To obtain the Barrington name, an instrument must first meet exacting standards for intonation, comfort, and mechanical reliability. The end result is an instrument that not only sounds beautiful but can withstand the rigors of those first few band years.

A friend asked me to come over and "check out" his grandson's horn as his band director told him that something was wrong with it.After playing it for about 10 seconds, I agreed that something was wrong. It felt like it was plugged with something. I disassembled the instrument, thouroughly cleaned the inside with brushes, and reassembled it.The valves and all the slides work smoothly and as intended, but unfortunately, the intonation of the instrument is just awful. When trying to hit notes with valves one and two depressed, the instrument sounds fuzzy and it is difficult to land solidly on the note you are striving to hit, rendering itself useless for anything but a decoration. There appears to be a design flaw that keeps this from being an instrument worthy of a school band or even to practice with.Unfortunately, this instrument will never allow a beginning student to play up to their potential.Too bad I was not able to guide this student into a horn that would have allowed him to progress. My suggestion: Before making a decision on a horn, ask a trusted, seasoned trumpeter or your band director to try out horns for you. They will be honored to do that! Sadly, it is long past the time that this horn can be exchanged - The student was a beginner with very little money and he just didn't know!
Skeptical at first. Purchased for my son as his first and only trumpet. His teacher said it was exceptional for the price. 8 months later, still playing; No issues; no sticky keys and sounds great. Recommend for all beginners!
I got this trumpet about a month ago. I've been playing piano for 6 years, been in percussion in band since 6th grade. In 8th grade now, and decided i wanted to pick up trumpet, since i wanted to do that for a couple of years. This trumpet had some good reviews on the internet, so i bought it. I brought it to my jazz band teacher who says it actually played exceptionally well. The first and third valves stick a little sometimes, but my jazz band teacher just said it would come out with time, the same thing happened with his trumpet. (I have no doubt he is correct, he was a trumpet soloist in an international music/dance show.)
