A full, not compensating, double.

It requires no compromise of intonation on valve combination, as is the case with compensating designs. The fifth valve is a Bb-F rotor. The fourth valve is a muting valve that lowers the horn 3/4 step to bring stopped horn mutes into tune without intonation. Extra fourth slide puts Bb in the key of A, so written E horn parts do not have to be transposed.

Key of Bb/high F Descant. .468" bore; 12.25" large-throated, hand-hammered, yellow brass detachable bell; 5 valves; tapered, hand-lapped brass rotors; brass branches and crooks with solid nickel silver connecting ferrules; slides are hand-lapped brass both inside and outside; lacquered brass finish.

Comments about Holton H200 Professional Descant French Horn:

A superior horn to the Conn 12D - better in tune throughout the range and has a nice, not screechy, top register with the F alto. The H200 is a direct copy of the pre-1985 Paxman 40.It's a great horn and a GREAT value.

over all this is a good instrument

Comments about Holton H200 Professional Descant French Horn:

Nice instrument, the bell seems to be made of material of a heaver gauge, this stops the ringing quality holton was known for years back... to bad, thin it up just a bit... But this instrument is still much better than that lead pipe manufacture Paxman... Mr. Holton how about a Tripple Horn, in F/Bflat/High Bflat, that's right High Bflat, lets quit messing around and stomp the other makers in the ground, I was working with well known maker in germany gave up on them, bickering over bell size, they think small is good... We need a large throated bell here in the States, Let's make it here.
