Comments about Audio-Technica AT2035 Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

Purchased this mic to pic up a group of acoustic musicians and singers. The sound quality is crystal clear and it does have the ability to pick up voices clearly from 1.5 - 2 feet away.

Great mic!! Nothing better under $200......

    By LG414

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2035 Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

I use this mic in a home recording studio for Rap & RnB.... Good clean sound...the 10 db pad helps to pull out alot of the background noise and the 80hz low end filter pullout the hum and rumble noise. Makes for less work in post production. Im sure there are higher end mics out there with better sound quality but they probably cost alot more.... In the $200 range this is def A-1.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2035 Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

We use 9 of these for a Mariachi group. 4 as overheads for the violins, 1 for the trumpets, 1 for the guitarron, 3 for the guitars and vihuela.

as for the harp and vocals, we use audio technica dynamic mics.

These are a definate upgrade in sound quality from the rather dull sounding AKG and Sennhieser mics that we were using.
They really bring out the details in the more treble heavy instruments like violins and guitars.

The -10db pad really lets the trumpets play at a closer distance to the mic and not let it clip.

With a bit of eq magic it you can really get clean lows from this mic.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2035 Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

This is my second mic of this type which I will be using in my home studio primarily for acoustic instruments and vocals. I was previously using an MXL 990. After a comparison tracking acoustic guitar directly into my interface with both mics I can say that I do hear a noticeable difference in the sound. The AT2035 is more pronounced in both the low and high middle frequencies which makes it sound a bit less compressed than the MXL. It's a subtle difference and I don't think I'm going to get rid of my 990 but I would probably lean toward using the AT for this type of application going forward.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2035 Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone:

This is a step up from the AT2020 ... comes with a shockmount (that you have to use, since its the only mic mount that is delivered with it...no threads), a rolloff switch and a 10db pad. The shockmount is snug enough to allow many positions for the side address mic and the LC capsule is very good for the bargain price.
