    Mr. Curtis

Comments about MXL 190 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

All I have to say is, wow! The MXL 190 has impressed everyone wherever we've played. We began as a few friends playing Old Time Roots Music around the kitchen table. When we started playing out we could not duplicate the same acoustic sound we so desired, using multiple microphones and pickups mashed everything, and several audio guys would mix us like a rock band. I called Musician's Friend hoping to find something we could use for a single mic set up. The Rep recommended the MXL 190 and he is now my hero. The warm airy sound we get using one single MXL 190 is amazing! We now have total control of the mix and our acoustic instruments (banjo, guitars, and mandolin) sound acoustic once again. The MXL 190 picks up my wife's voice wonderfully and our vocal harmonies have never sounded better. The MXL 190 has now became part of our show as we each step in and out for solos and no longer stand in one place. It never fails, after each show we get a crowd of people who ask about the mic and are amazed by the sound. The MXL 190 has also been a hit at our local Sunday Open Mic, we now can jam with ten or more musicians at one time with one mic, playing everything from cellos and accordions to a Mexican vihuela guitar and it all sounds great. I would recommend the MXL 190 to anyone who wants to use the single mic technique. The MXL 190 has made us excited to play out, changed our show for the better, improved our live sound, and simplified our set up. Thank you Musician's Friend!

    Great Mic!

Comments about MXL 190 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

Compared it head to head with my MXL 992. The 992 had a brighter tone. But, the 190 captured the 12 string tone perfectly, as well as male vox. Female vox sounded better thru 992. After trying everything I could get my hands on (amped electrics, acoustics, bongos, vox, etc.) I think the 992 sounds more 'produced' but the 190 sounds more 'live'. This is a must have for anyone serious about recording.

    Great for the price

Comments about MXL 190 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I bought the MXL 190 looking for a mike with an open, airy sound and it delivers beautifully. I have an AKG Perception 420 that I use for just about everything. The AKG has a more up front sound and is also a very good value for the price. But sometimes you need a studio mike with that airy sound and the MXL 190 is just the ticket. Sounds as good a mikes costing much more. It is very quiet and sounds especially good on female vocals. I have not tried it on anything but vocals.

MXL 190 Large Diaphram Condenser Microphone

    By Charlie T.

Comments about MXL 190 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

This microphone is beautiful. It's very nicely constructed and seems very durable. Especially with MXL's three year warrenty... Sound wise, it is crystal clear. It sounds just right, not too bright. And with it's -10db attenuation and a roll off, it makes this microphone very flexible. I have used it in three sessions on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and a drum overhead. and on each instument it sounds as though i have taken the instrument and just plaed it into my computer. This mic also ships with a flight case and huge shockmount. As some would put it, a great "bang for your buck". I strongly recommend purchasing this microphone any day.
