I've used this mic in my home studio for about a year now, and its really a good mic, but its not very versatile. On acoustic, it doesn't have enough range or coverage to get an accurate sound, causing a plastic cloudy sound. The sound filter helped a little bit, but don't use this mic by itself when recording acoustic, use it in a pair. For drums, this works great as an overhead or for a snare/tom mic, and its also great to capture some room ambience, or as a backup mic. (I record my ampeg svt bass amp using a shure beta52, and this about 2 feet from the amp to capture some ambience, great result!)
I have been using this microphone as an overhead mic for my drumset. It picks up the large set pretty well and doesn't get that staticy sound that some other microphones do when picking up cymbals. It is not professional quality but pretty close. For the price that it is, this a great microphone with many uses.
I got this to record stand up jazz bass and it sounds really, really good. We also use it when we are rehearsing so we can hear the bass, and we tried using it live once, but it was a bit sensitive, partly because of the high gain due the nature of the bass, and fed back quite a bit. I would recommend this mic because of its clarity, versitility, price, and quality.
met my full expectations and more. I record drums, bass, and guitar using this mic.
