OVERVIEW

Professional rackmount CD recorder.

The CD-RW900MKII is a professional CD recorder that replaces the best-selling CD-RW900SL. A new TEAC tray-loading transport ensures years of reliable operation in the most demanding installations. The new transport also allows gapless recording when writing track markers, something not possible using off-the-shelf PC drives. Comments about Tascam CD-RW900MKII CD Recorder/Player:

This CD recorder is easy to use, but you do have to spend a few minutes with the users manual to learn the key sequences to record. I am using a passive Mackie PA connected via RCA plugs directly into the recorder. The played recordings sound exactly like what was played. The only thing I had to figure out for myself is that, in order to record with adequate volume, I had to turn the PA volume up and the active speaker volumes down from half to quarter. Even with the input volumes all the way up on the CR recorder, I was not getting the volume until I adjusted to active speakers which allowed for more volume without feedback. As you record, you can adjust the voices and instruments to get a balanced sound by looking at the volume indicator on the CD recorder when on record mode. Great addition to my music studio.

Comments about Tascam CD-RW900MKII CD Recorder/Player:

Although I have not had this recorder for very long, it appears to be a solid design. I had to give up on my Sony CD recorder, which had served well for over a decade, but had become unreliable for finalizing the disc and losing my work. In the Tascam, I particularly like the Monitor function to review the source without being in Record mode. The ability to adjust each input level individually is a feature that I have used. It would have been useful to have a second playback drive for internal dubbing, but that was not a deal-killer in my application. I was disappointed in the manufacturer's warranty, especially for the laser components (90 days).

Comments about CD-RW900MKII CD Recorder/Player:

We use the CD-RW900MKII CD Recorder/Player for our church. We haven't had it long enough to figure out all the ins and outs of it. But so far we love it. Maybe I'm imagining it, but it seems to have a better sound than the old one. It is definitely an improvement. I would like for it to have the capability to hold more than just one CD at time. But that's a minor issue.

Comments about Tascam CD-RW900MKII CD Recorder/Player:

Affordable purchase and a good product. TASCAM puts out some quality equipment and the price point is always right on. Use this machine in a home recording studio and it is just what is needed to make demo's and complete CDs. I usually dump the compositions onto a minidisc first so they can be arranged in the proper order for a complete CD. Then recorded to tape (even with the hum) and then to this recorder. The tape warms up the sound and the warmth stays after I record to disc using this machine. I think this recorder will allow moving the tracks around also on re-recordable disc but don't use those types of discs. TASCAM produces another recorder with more in/outs on the back but I believe the guts are the same on both machines. You can't go wrong with this recorder. TASCAM also has a good support network if you do have problems and they have always promptly responded when one of the units in the studio gets squirrelly.
