A VERY GOOD SUSTAIN PEDAL

Pros

  • Fattens up guitar solos

Cons

  • Screws get kind of loose

Best Uses

  • Boost mode wOD channel
  • Boost mode wwah pedal

I don't use the OD mode on the pedal mainly because I play through a very distorted amplifier.Recently I tried the boost mode through the clean channel with the neck pickup and got great slide guitar tone.

Box of BillyG

I am a Fender amp player who likes to go from a good clean sound to a convincing 'Waitin on the Bus'tone and some Keef rhythm, that slight breakup that most pedals never nail. This one can and I have a closet full of more expensive Keeley and Fulltone stuff that is probably made better and a little quieter but always sound a bit artificial.

Awesome little pedal!

By Dr. Gone

from Columbus, OH

This pedal really surprised me. It really nails every tone Clapton used on the "Beano" album. It particularly sounds great with humbuckers because Clapton used a Les Paul for most of his stint as a Bluesbreaker. It's even got a boost mode that's great for over driving a tube amp like a Fender Bassman or a Marshall JTM type of amp. I love this little pedal. Don't miss out on this one.

Heavy blues, without the mushy ' metal' od sound

By The Barron of Blues

from Saskatchewan

Great pedal, nice for tasty laid back distortion, not a heavy metal pedaL, but it can handle hard rock. Overall the marshall govener is a more versitile dirtbox, but the bluesbreaker is perfect at what it does - if you want something more that blues/rock distortion you will probally want something else. Butif you want nice blusey, harmonically saturated, smooth distortion with a different shade of colour than your typical dirtbox this is for you. The boost is a nicefeature , but i'd like the 4pt 2 knob eq (top/bottm)that the govener has on this pedal if it had that it would get full marks.

Smooth Blues Drive

By Strat_Reborn

from Calgary AB

This pedal is great. The blues feature delivers nice , smooth drive which allows for singing highs and roaring lows. The boost feature is a bonus considering the cost of this pedal. The boost feature delivers a clean "BOOST" to you signal which can be used for soloing on an already distorted amp.I was also amazed by the fact that I was able to get an almost Hendrix like "fuzzy" sound out of it by using the blues function with an already distorted amp. This pedal coupled with my crybaby classic doubled the Hendrix vibe.Overall: Wonderful Pedal recommend it to anyone that like the blues but also want an extra "BOOST".WARNING: NOT FOR USE WITH SOLID STATE AMPS!!!

Nice bluesy tone for soloing

By Smoothjazzman

from Winston Salem, NC

This Bluesbreaker II pedal has a nice, responsive tone for soloing. Coupled with a bit of delay I can achieve a smooth, more natural sounding lead overdrive tone for solos that just sing beautifully & respond to nuances of my picking attack without sounding too tinny or harsh when the volume is turned up a bit. The main strength of this pedal I believe, are the wonderful, singing highs that can be expressed, the weakeness are the more 'wobbly' bass tones which are typical with all pedals modeled for the "Blues", such as this BBII & Boss' "Blues Driver". If you want to get away from noisey metal/distortion pedals and want a more cleaner, retro / natural sounding lead tone with a bit of gain, I highly recommend this pedal. If you're looking to get a crunchy rhythm for rock or metal out of this, you'll need to look elsewhere.

Ehhh..

By Mic-weNwh

from Houston, Tx

Well this was one of my first pedals and when i bought it i didn't really know what i was doing so... Basically it sounds like crap going through a direct box or anything solid state. I heard it sounds good through a tube amp but i havent experienced that yet. On the boost side you dont have much control over the gain and crunch even if you turn it all the way down, and the blues side its just a crunchy mess. Im gonna try it with my new amp(probably a blackheart) and if it still blows its going bye bye.

Punchy Pedal

By picker-WqrcS

from Millbrae,Ca

I bought this pedal around Christmas and really like it. I run it through the semi-clean preset on my Cyber Twin and with my Ibanez RR-Sr Flying V this pedal sounds great. What I really like is the ballsy punch the pedal delivers when power chords or single notes are hit hard (I run the gain and the tone wide open). The tone feels like part of the amp rather than just added on, kind of hard to describe but I love it.I haven't used the Boost function much but if I had a place where volume was not a concern I imagine a turned up amp would respond nicely. This pedal is a nice fit between my Bad Monkey and my DS-1.

A great under The radar pedal

By the tone man

from Chicago

This pedal is a great little monster, It has 2 functions and in my opinion greatly missunderstood. The boost works as it says "a boost", and this channel is best for tube amps, If you have your amp on a clan channel it will boost your clean. But put this on your drive channel and it takes your amp and drives the tubes harder. The main thing here is, If you have a crappy tube amp, your sound will be crappy. That is the part from what I have seen people missunderstand. I have a Fender Blues Deluxe, and this thing pushes it into overdrive heaven. Now to the Blues channel. I think this channel is workable with a bit of time spent on dialing in a sound that is good for you. I use this channel on my Fender Champ 600. and have the gain turned almost all the way down, so what I get is a very dirty mild break up. I didn't like the blues channel at first to be honest. But the more I played with it the more I saw how versial it was. No it will not give you a "metallica" sound, But it wasn't ment to. I have cranked the gain and gotten a very good classic rock sound. For what this pedal is It hits the nail on the head. It is a way to Boost a tube amp into natual overdrive, or get a as the name says "Bluesbreaker" amp sound.

BB-2 by Marshall

The marshall bues breaker II is a great pedal, it was also my first. When I play it I play it on the clean setting with my amplifier(Marhall solid-state)and it sounds great especially with the boost mode, it then gives you a nice ZZtop like tone, or even a good Chuck Berryish tone, over all I'm pleased with it.
