I purchased these mics as a replacement for many more expensive professional mics that I had sold off throughout the years after closing a commercial studio. Some heavy hitters for professional studio use.
I'm filling a need in a home studio. I didn't expect to get "high quality/robust" mics....just enough to do the job on a budget, as it's mostly for personal/occassional use now vs. my Senny's, AKG's Shures, etc., which were used in that commercial studio day in and day out.
Well, I'm actually very satisfied with this set for drum miking - Yes..even the kick mic that many seem to have negative opinions about. It works fine.....it's all about drum tuning/damping/mic position and proper EQ....not over EQ.....watch for those phase issues which will pull things apart.....miking drums properly is an art.
The mics are quite good and robust for my applications.....they will find many other uses as they all have different characteristics, and that's why you pick certain mics, not just the most well known, or expensive mics. I used to follow the pros advice, spent tons of $$ and finally learned that these are tools, and the user needs to be a craftsman, and it's what can be done in a craftsman's hands that makes the "magic". As long as the tools are well designed, hold up, and work properly, the rest is up to the user. I'm very happy with this CAD set. Are there better mics.....sure....but will these get you what you need on a budget.....YES!

Pretty decent set of mics, not bad for demos and home recording, give you a nice clear signal from each mic without a lot of bleed, but they don't sound very 'sweet.'

I could never get a good low pitched, fat floor tom sound out of any of the tom mics without a lot of EQ and compression, rack toms sounded ok though - The bass drum and snare mics were both ok, but nothing to write home about - The overheads felt ugly to me, and they didn't seem to sweeten up very much with EQ or reverb either.

In comparison I always used a relatively inexpensive set of 2 MXL condensers as overheads or room mics and either of those mics made the drumset sound better, fuller, and sweeter than the whole set of CADs. When listening back and mixing down I would almost always end up muting the CAD toms and overheads and using the MXLs instead.

I would've been better off spending a little more on a nice bass drum mic and an sm57 to go with my two good overhead condensers and doing a 4 mic approach (which is what I'm doing now).

Comments about CAD PRO-7 Drum Microphone Kit (7-Piece):

I have used these to record 2 (home) studio albums and a live album, plus, literally hundreds of gigs. Soundmen turn up their noses at the brand, then apologize after hearing the sound! I just bought a 2nd set, because after 8 years, I've had a couple of the mounting clamps break.

I'll admit though, that the kick drum mic was an early casualty, after about 4-5 years of use. I replaced it with an Audix D6, because the CAD mic started sounding funny, then stopped altogether. I have used virtually all of the major brands of drum mics out there, but for my money, I wouldn't buy anything else!

On the negative side, the mounting clamps are great for snare and toms, BUT not very versatile for anything else. Couldn't figure out a good way to use these for congas, bongos, etc.

Comments about CAD PRO-7 Drum Microphone Kit (7-Piece):

I was not really expecting the world because of the price (120 is relatively pennies for seven mics), but I was very pleasantly surprised. The shipping was fast (said to expect by Wednesday the next week and received Monday); was well-packed with plenty of padding paper in the box; overall kit is very lightweight. Sound on the Snare mic is awesome (imho the best mic of the lot), sound on the Kick is good to excellent, and the toms are fair to good. I have yet to try the condensers, but I am thinking their quality won't be far off the others in the kit either way. My strong recommendation is to use an EQ; it really brings out the abilities of these puppies. BTW, I am a guitarist, not a drummer: however, I run/set up the PA equipment (board, amps, processors, etc.), so am very familiar with mics, fields, etc. These 'ducers will give you good, strong and clean signal. I would not hesitate to recommend these to anyone.

Comments about CAD PRO-7 Drum Microphone Kit (7-Piece):

Bottom line, . . . Great for gigging. These mics produce a usable signal for live gigs and can be carried in a very small light weight case. I believe any drummer that would take high end studio quality mics on a working job is risking damage and gaining marginal improvement in a live mix.

These can be used for home recording and sound OK, but when you compare them to AT4050s or SM81s, you can clearly hear the difference.

Comments about CAD PRO-7 Drum Microphone Kit (7-Piece):

This is a great set of drum mics. Now, some reviewrs will go off talking about Shure or other brands that cost five times what this set costs. Of course there are better mics than there, but really, how many people really need top of the line mics? I use them to play one or two gigs a week and these mics are great and do the job. I put them through a Behringer 8 channel Eurorack and then to the main board and I get a great mix and good stereo sound. The clips are great, unintrusive, and quick to set up. The carrying bag is perfect, and if you treat them well they will last a long time. Taking care of our instruments should always be a priority, throwing your stuff in the trunk of your car is never a good idea.
I am really happy with this mics.

Comments about CAD PRO-7 Drum Microphone Kit (7-Piece):

The mics are a great deal at a great price, but I have worked with high end mics and those do sound way better. The tom mics are fine, an SM57 sounds a little better on snare, the kick mic was fine but I did have to work harder to find a sweet spot when positioning it. The pencil condenser overhead mics were the only ones that I was a little disappointed with. They sounded extremely thin, even going through a warm preamp with the ohms set low to get a warmer sound. I was able to EQ it so the drums sit fine in the mix and don't sound too thin. For the price though, it worked for what I needed and I don't regret getting them.

              Great mics for the money.
              Sturdy build.
The clips work great for easy placement but you can't really use them with hand percussion (congas)
because of the integral rim clips.
Bass drum mic is weak for use on a bass drum, i use it on my floor tom.
