EXCELLENT DRUM SET

By Odile Peltzer

from INDIANA

Comments about Alesis DM6 Session 5-Piece Electronic Drum Set:

OVERALL A GREAT BUY . FEATURES PRO CYMBALS,PRO TOMS, PRO RACK, AND PRO KICK PEDAL AND HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO ROCK WITH HEADPHONES OR AN AMP . ALL YOU NEED EXTRA IS HEADPHONES OR AN AMP AND A CHORD .
The features on this are just as good as what the pros used in the 80's . I'm talking about the simmons sets the pro's used in the 80's with rubber pads except this is better because it has pro cymbals that act just like regular cymbals in the 80's the pro's just used rubber pads not shaped like cymbals with no action . these cymbals move just like regular cymbals . All in All I have to say this kit is just as good as any pro simmons set the pro's used in the 80's actually a little better.
GOOD WORKMANSHIP !!!!!! GOOD DESIGN FOR SMALL SPACES .
SINCE THIS IS BETTER THAN WHAT THE PRO'S ACTUALLY USED IN THE 80'S I WOULD HAVE TO SAY ALOT OF BANG FOR THE BUCK !!!! I WOULD BUY IT AGAIN .

Good for the price

By Thorn Rich

Comments about Alesis DM6 Session 5-Piece Electronic Drum Set:

Overall really awesome. A really good price for a decent kit. I'm impressed.
For the price. You can't beat it. Only downside is you can't add anything else to the kit that what you see here. no extra bass pedals or anything. Although you can change the hit-hat pedal to a bass sound but if you do that when you use the actual high hat its the bass sound as well. haha
Seems a lot better than what i was expecting but i have only had it for 2 weeks now.
For the price it can't be beat.

Ask me a question

Comments about Alesis DM6 Session 5-Piece Electronic Drum Set:

This is my first drum set and, overall, I am happy with the purchase. For home recording, learning or the drummer on a budget who needs a practice kit I would recommend the session 5 piece. There are better electronic kits available but not in this price range.

If you're a newbie, like me, go by a local music store and get some good sticks , a knowledgable clerk will get you pointed in the right direction. Also newbies should consider Tommy Igoe's getting started video, even if you plan on taking lessons his videos will get you started on the right foot.
This is a practice kit, not a gigging kit. Although the price spent wasn't huge, with technology as cheap and easy as it is I expected a little more from the module. The 1/8th output is just OK sounding through an amp and drums are just plain old MIDI with different kits being variations on it, basically sounds like an old casio keyboard playing drum sounds.
COmes with a kick pedal and sticks (cheap 2A's) which other kits in the price range do not, nice plus.
The USB out works well going to a computer where you can edit the sounds in your DAW, great for the home studio guy!
Pre assembled metal frame is a awesome and will have you up and running in no time.
Included documentation is lacking comprehensive information. It will get you started but leaves you to fugure most stuff out as you go. Not a huge problem as the module is pretty easy to use.
Good solid frame, drums use plastic clamps which have to be adjusted periodically while playing which is a little annoying but from what I've read about other economy kits should be expected.
Drum pads are very responsive though there is a huge learning curve on using the the rim tap feature on the snare.
The price was right and with the deals on MF I am happy with the purchase. Once more I think that the manufacturer could have given a little more in the snare drum pad construction and drum module sound and outputs and still been able to realize a fair profit on the product.

Comments about Alesis DM6 Session 5-Piece Electronic Drum Set:

As a musician with years experience who finally decided to dabble in drums this is a perfect kit. I would also recommend them to any beginner or the budget minded drummer who needs a silent kit.
The DM6 has everything you need. Keep in mind it's just a midi kit but USB connectabity gives home recording artist the adulation to use the kits in their DAW. I like the play along tunes. They are just short loops but they give the ability to work on loops with having just a metronome.
Inputis a great option, being my first drum kit I bought some instructional DVDs, it's nice to plus in and hear the lesson and drums through the headphones thereby not disturbing anyone. Loosing forward to plugging in the IPod when I get a bit better.
It's plastic and aluminum. Works so far but for the price the could have put in metal
Clamps instead of plastic ones. They work well but only time will tell if that stand up. I wouldn't expect them to hold out if they were gigging.
I am a long time musician who got tired of using loops for recording subscribing to the theory that my OK drums would be better that using canned drums. I looked at a lot of kits before making my decision, I didn't want to invest much more because drums aren't my only instrument , the ones that cost less seemed to be "toy"
Quality.

Jam Master George on the Alesis DM6

By George Gutierrez

from Crazy Town Roswell, NM

Comments about Alesis DM6 Session 5-Piece Electronic Drum Set:

Iam completely happy with all aspects, did not beleive in E drums, I am now looking to give away my acoustic kit, I have seen the light! Hallelujah!
The Alesis DM6 E-drum set is totally freakin' awesome! Been playin' and recording acoustic drums for 4 years now, have also used an Alesis SR-16 beat machine for more modern sounding recordings. The DM-6 combines the best of both worlds. Forget micing , just plug and play, if the phone rings or someone comes knocking, you don't have to start over. You can change the kits and the voice of the pads. You can have a double bass if you want or an 808 sounding kit, with out having to buy yourself Neil Peart's bohemeth set. Extremely versatile, it only makes sense, you got electric guitars why not E-drums? I can practice, the kids can practice, any time of night or day, without disturbing anyones peace. The price is cheap but the quality is not, this is Alesis, who are renowned for there drum sounds, I am very, very, pleased and recommend this product to everyone beginner or pro! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cannot believe the value, I feel like I ripped someone off!

Very interesting kit indeed

By Gilbert Camacho

from Your Room, USA

Comments about Alesis DM6 Session 5-Piece Electronic Drum Set:

This kit is very good compared to the high priced ones, even though I never played the high priced drums. This one seems to really hold on it's own and deliver some percussive ass kicking that one would so greatly desire. The only problem I have with this is the 1st tom's jack plug-in that keeps detaching itself but perhaps its a minor problem. Either way, I hated composing drum rhythm on a music software so drum kit has definitely delivered in that part
